Ok, this may be a fairly lame topic, but I'm wondering where you guys with full size, long bed pickups take your trucks to be washed. Mine is a 3/4T ford with extended cab, and the turning radius is not to good, so I've had issues with some car wash places where its a tight fit. Of course theres the mirrors to watch out for also.

I've taken it to those touchless type washes where you pull in and sit while the nozzles spray around the truck, but I'm not happy with the results.

So where do you all take your trucks for washing???

I pull mine over next to the garage.

It's closer to the hose rack.

It rained here 2 weeks ago-it got washed then. Mine doesn't fit thru the carwash because of the siding brake and ladder rack on the top, and I don't have the time to hand wash. Hasn't seen soap in 6 years- it's an '05.

When I have time (all weekend:p), in the driveway. Otherwise, I take it to the Blue Beacon Truckwash and get the works:thumbsup: $14 and about 20 minutes later, it is shining like new!

My hay crew and I wash and clean all of the eq., inside and out, after the season. It takes us a week or so to do, me I'm fixing things for next year and the crew, mostly made up of high school football players and wrestlers or greasing and washing. They work hard for me and this is a slower pace, we have fun, a water fight or two, :) and every evening we - B Q for them. :licking: Its my way of saying thanks!

A $300 3000psi gas powered pressure washer is one of the best investments you can make. I even have a 20ft hose for winter use since it's easier to drain.

I am with Dmace. I have a $50 electric with 50 of hose that lives in my heated garage...

X2, plus I have a 4-5 foot handle with a soft bristle brush for reaching the roof. This also works great for cleaning the side so I don't have to bend over at all. I can wash the truck in 10 minutes. Of course wheels take a little bending and scrubbing. The pressure washer works for the most part, but it never gets the film off so I need the brush.

I have the same thing and a 5 gallon bucket in wheels to make up soapy water. Easy to roll around the truck.

I use my electric power washer on my wife's Caddy. If I happen to have the gas washer out for cleaning equipment, I might blast the mud off the pickup but I don't waste soap on it.

You can purchase really good quality bushes with fixed or adjustable fiberglass handles at some truck stops. The bristles are soft and won't scratch the paint. Mine did get plenty of use when I had my Freightliner. Now-a-days, I mostly use it on my house's vinyl siding.

I use the car washes where you wash it yourself. It has a pressure type washer where the soap comes out and then you rinse it. They work well and I can do my truck for $2 or 3$.

Bucket of soapy water and wash-mit at the house, after driving it in the rain/mud/snow. Otherwise I dry-towel it after every time I drive it, which is only once every week or two... Wax once a year, fluid film the underbody once a year, garage kept.

Just my $.02, but I never let anyone wash mine but me, and by hand. To be fair though, it really has to do with the paint quality and the color too. Fortunately I have silver/grey cars and trucks and they don't show swirls or imperfections as much as darker colors do (and I have a few small scratches here and there from hauling hay or hunting). My truck doesn't get nearly as much love as the car, but I still clay bar it a couple times a year as it helps get the road tar off. I only wash it every couple of months, sometimes even longer, but still when I do I don't want it getting more scratches or swirls because of an auto car wash. You would be amazed at how damaging those places can be and is the reason car fanatics avoid them like the plague. If you are interested, Adam's Polishes has some great videos of washing and paint care.

Truck and car both - always in the yard with a 5-gallon pail and a long handle brush followed by a hose rinse, just like 3 Freightliners, a Kenworth and numerous Fords that used to reside here. Nowadays, I get a little "help" from my grand-daughter.
