Don't think it is a heat problem gauges never show anything but normal. I have not checked the fuel pressure but have replaced the filter It does have the 466 non turbo motor. I am beginning to think it is a fuel problem as well. Just not seeing any black smoke when it is under a load. It will blow a little when it is cold but still not much. Sure do appreciate the input. Just would like to have an ideas before I head back to the shop.

Yes it turns over a little slower but it just turns over but doesn't fire until it cools down. It has to sit for around an hour or so before it will fire. Tractor seems to be down on power too. I had brakes put on it a few months back and while it was at the dealer I had them put it on the dyno. It peaked at 105 hp but fell of pretty quick when they put a load. I wish I would have had them check the compression. Any ideas after reading this?

I bought a couple similiar machine in past. Not deeres no way but looked good drove good but needed a lot of tlc as they say
Im thinking a drop in power is a big loss of compression.

I would both

check compression
and
then when the tractor is HOT and wont start remove the injectors reconnect to fuel lines and spin the engine full fuel, ether thru the air intake if needed to run it enough to see what blows from the injector holes and the visual injector pattern.

and decide do you love it enough to spend more or pass it on to someone else

It says. Sensodyne on the side of the pump. I think thats how you spell it.

I've heard of a Stanadyne inj pump. After further research in parts cat I found that the 466 could have come equipped with a rotary inj pump. On the rotary type pump the head/rotor can get worn enough to cause hard operating temp. starting. With engine at operating temp before attempting to start pour cold water on inj. pump and then try to crank. If engine starts easier the worn pump is your starting problem.

DISCLAIMER do not put cold water on an inj while engine is running!!!!!!!

nothing will make sense until you pull the injectors reconnect then and see what is coming out.

When the engine is running, does it it perform as you would expect. What were the dunk results? Does the engine have any smoke while idling or at full throttle with no load.

do you have any smoke while cranking? Do you have mechanical of electrical shut down? You can crack the injection line while cranking to see the fuel flow at the injectors without pulling injectors. If it is electrical shut down you could have a fuel solenoid problem that gets weak when it is warm and not turn the fuel on

It is mechanical shutdown. There is some smoke after cranking when it is cold after that there is none even under a load. That lead me to believe that it is fuel.
