Bought my 2310 brand new in '05. its ran perfect with no problems, until the hydraulic pump died. I used this forum to try and figure out the problem? I came across a few posts on bad pumps in these earlier machines. Sure enough (after arguing with the service guy) it turned out to be that I got "short shafted", or the input shaft on the pump was not designed well enough, and didn't engage the female part deep enough. After they fixed it, and I payed for the repair ($2000), I tried to get a goodwill warranty from Massey. They offered to pay HALF OF THEIR COST!! Or $180. Now. I know I'm out off warranty BUT IT ONLY HAS 455hours! It is a bad design(they know about it AND have redesigned it!)
Can anybody help me or give me some advice please?:(

I am not sure what we can do for you other then tell you some of us are in the same boat.

I agree they should have recalled these, and made the proper repair. But they clearly have decided not to.

What the rest of us need to know, is if we should replace the pump preemptively?

Sorry to hear that, keep trying-usually out of warranty repairs on any thing only results in the manufacturer paying for just the parts-labor is always the most expensive of the bill. the good news is it's still better\cheaper than buying a new tractor.

Would you happen to have the part numbers on the failed and the replacement pumps? I'm at approximately the same number of hours. I'm considering replacing mine preemptively rather than have it fail 1/4 mile into the woods in January.

Today, for the second time I went to use my Massey 2310 and it moves back and forth but no hydraulics anywhere. The first time was covered by warranty. They said the splines on the shaft were too short. Thought that the problem was solved, but I guess not.
Any help would be appreciated.

Check all of your quick connections you may have a connection that looks good but not completely connected and causing a blockage not allowing the hyd. to work. Been there done that.

Have you met with the regional rep?
You could always write a letter to MF and ask to speak with the CEO. You may get someone to help. Just some ideas. I hope the best for you.

Yes. I am not sure why, but according to previous accounts, that seems to be what happens when the shaft strips out.

When I look at the AGCO parts manual I noticed the hydrostatic pump is the part that sticks out just above the mid pto shaft-where the engine drive shaft goes in and the hydro pump is inside so it looks like two different systems?

Mine had only enough drive to get it on the trailer. After that, nothing.

I'll post my parts numbers for the "upgraded, hardened/lengthened" parts. Is it possible they replaced your old crappy parts with the same old crappy non-upgraded parts? I know chevy used to replace bad parts, with the same bad parts.

Thanks for the info. I still haven't done anything about it. I'm planning on calling the place where I actually bought it. They move a lot more product than my local dealer.
