Green beans and new potatoes are hard to beat. I've never seen the Pittsburg Hot Links, but Fischer's Meat Market has some "Taco Flavored Hot Links $3.69 lb.
This is an excellent Hot Link. It has Jalapenos and cheese in it
and is the hottest sausage we make" that are by far the best hot links I've found.

Pittsburg Hot Links are not really hot, but are great from the grill or the smoker. Pittsburg is in East Texas, and we never fail to pick up a couple cases when we are there.

I know where Pittsburg is, have even eaten lunch there. One of my wife's brothers lives way out of town, but his mailing address is Pittsburg. I just haven't seen the Pittsburg hot links. And I don't consider the Fischer hot links to be really hot either. I don't like really hot foods as much as I used to.

The only thing I really mess with is the fried turkey and I found the best spicy injection recipe. It is from Emeril and it's all we use.


2 tablespoon Lea & Perrins worcestershire
1 tablespoon crab boil
1/4 cup apple cider
3/4 cup honey
1 bottled beer
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon allspice
1/2 cup essence or Creole spice
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
pinch of clove

My favorite Thanksgiving recipe:
Take
all your siblings,
your parents,
your children,
your grandchildren,
your friends,

Mix them all together,
add hugs, kisses and handshakes,
let sit for 5 or 6 hours,
add lots of love and lots of conversation,

Not exactly a Thanksgiving recipe, but this last weekend got together with a half dozen friends on a cool afternoon and enjoyed a bushel of fresh oysters roasted over open flame- woooh, there so good- fresh, briny, with your choice of topping if you cared for any. Best part- being with those good friends! The host was planning for a two day roast but we managed to eat enough the first night to change his plans

Don't get me wrong; I love my home state, but when I hear something like this, I'll have to admit, I do get a little bit jealous. Closest we get is a good old Rocky Mountain Oyster fry, which is pretty darn hard to beat also.

Pumpkin Cheese Cake (stolen from Tacoma Bar & Grill; no longer in business)

Shortbread crust mix:
½ cup flour
½ cup sugar
½ cup butter
1 egg yolk

Mix until crumbly, press into bottom of spring-form pan. Bake in oven until light brown (400 degrees for 5 min).

Filling:
1 ½ lb. cream cheese (room temperature)
¾ cup sugar
5 eggs
2 tbsp. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
¾ cup cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lb. pumpkin

Beat cream cheese and sugar in a mixer, scraping bowl well. Add 2 egg yolks and 3 eggs, one at a time. Add flour, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, cream, vanilla, and pumpkin. Beat until blended. Pour into crust. Bake 15 min @ 350 degrees; reduce heat to 275 degrees and continue baking an additional 1 ½ hour. Remove from oven; cool for 10 to 15 minutes. Run table knife around rim of pan.

Ginger Sauce Topping:
2 cups sugar
½ cup water
¼ cup karo syrup
1 tbsp. vinegar
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. vanilla
½ lb. butter
