Dan, I know exactly what you mean about us older folks being resistant to technology....today I just unpacked and installed a new Asus 24 inch LED monitor for my $2500 home built gaming computer, I printed off fifty 4X6 photos from a memory card, I refuse to replace my near 3 year old Blackberry 8330 because it still works perfectly, but I REFUSE to have anything to do with those E-readers. I am only 60...why am I so resistant to new technology.....
Don't get me started on eBooks. Hate the bloody things, I couldn't stand reading a book on a tiny little screen

Give me paper and ink any day

The day books stop being printed, is the day I use the blade on my Lawn Mower for cutting something other than grass. It rhymes with "main".

Hmmm ... What rhymes with "main"? Zane? You're going to use your mower to cut up old Zane Grey novels? Wait, I've got it. You'll cut up "Zane" in the "lane" during the "rain". Gosh, I sure hope they keep printing books so THAT doesn't happen! :)

How can anyone complain about technology and even be on this website?

technology is becoming pervasive, and some of it background.

web service may be seen as background on a dedicated computer in a corner or something.. however one of them lil tablets that someone carries around may be mor ethan some want to deal with.

GOOD POINT....

BTW the books you mention are about as far apart as you can get. I read the Ayn Rand title and liked it but the second...did not finish it.

I have read (obviously) that once you start a book you should not give up on it until you get as many pages read as your age...I am not that patient if I get to about 20 pages in and don't like the book I give up.

I love reading books, and couldn't be without one, however I never read the same book twice!

It is just something I don't like to do, as they loose the "Ooh, I wonder what will happen next!?" excitement after the initial read.

Strangely though, I do like to watch movies more than once, with a space in between of course.

Wait until he gets older, with fading brain cells...guys, I have to confess something, when I enjoy a book, I don't always pass it along or donate it, I still have about a thousand books I have already read stashed away...in only a few years I will never remember reading them, heck, I probably couldn't remember what I had for dinner two days ago.
