Why does my Ford 3000 tractor have two oil filters

Sound guy,
I looked at tractor today and you are right the 2nd filter is a hydraulic filter. Does this mean it is a 3600? The stenciling reads 3000. The hydraulic housing reads Belgium. Forgot to get numbers from under hood today, will get back to you when I get them.

Was removing my bush hog shaft from pto and it would not just slide off. I thought it would be easy to remove so I could check the shaft play. Again any ideas?

yes if it has a filter on the hyd pump it is a x600 series tractor

likely could be a 3600.. or some kind of mutt.

get the numbers from under the hood, and fromthe bellhousing flat and psot them.

also.. the pto shaft should have a quick release pin, or roll pin or roll cam lock holding it on... some have a push / pull release as well.

post a pic of the shaft end and we can tell you more.

Sound guy, you ask me awhile back to send you the numbers from under the hood on my tractor, they are as follows: 246312. Model. C1 0113C 5A29B. Eng. 706745 A28. Maybe you will be able to tell me series and year by these numbers, many thanks. Also let my ford run out of fuel the other day and now having a hard time restarting, any hints. Oh thanks for your help, I finally got the bush hog attachment off the pto. It was a series of push one direction and then push collar underneath in opposite direction, then remove attachment. Thanks.

It looks like your tractor is a 1965 (5A29b = 1965 January 29, day shift) 3000 Super Dexta w/Ser. No. C101130 (the last character must be a numeral, not a letter). The serial number range began at 100000 in about mid-1964 with the introduction of the 3-cylinder tractors taking place in September, 1964. The Super Dexta designation was dropped rather quickly, along with Dexta, Major and Super Major - too English sounding.

dont go by the numbers from under the hood it could be switch from another tractor if you have a hyd filter mounted on the pump it is a x600 series or a cobled up tractor. take the numbers off the bellhousing that is where you date a ford tractor not the hood

i agree with whodat. the hyd filter mounted on the pump would tend to make it a x600 or later.. or a mut.

I just got an old 68 Ford 3000 (from what I am told) with a front end loader. They guy I got it from said the local New Holland Dealer could not tell exactly what model it was.

On the tranny/bell housing by the brake pedal:

On the engine Block right side rear

Hard seeing the numbers... shes an oldie!

I am going to put in a new battery, old one froze, and do an oil and filter change.

What Oil Filter does the Ford 3000 take? and where can one find that filter? Tractor Supply carry them ?

Found this thread and looking forward to getting some answers and help with my first tractor !

post the model id code fromthe under-hood tag or the trans bellhousing aft of the starter.

Does it use a spin on filter or a canister filter?

if a spin oil filter on any of the following fit: napa 1515, 1452, motorcraft fl1a, fram ph8a, supertech st8a

fram ch14pl is the canister oil filter element..

There is a 1981 4610 in the shop right now with an engine driven piston pump and no filter. Parts catalog shows that pump listed for that tractor. Was quite an eye-opener for a few of us, as we all thought it 'should' have a gear pump for certain.
