This post is too funny (and sadly very true of all of us) I am probably half the age of most of you and I already have lots of "stuff" I guess that is why they call me "The Junk Man" around the motorcycle forums.

I call these "future projects" however some are parts for the ones I have already restored. I collect several of everything.

And yes those are 2 of the 3 Porsche 914's that I have and one of the Chrysler TC's by Maserati with both soft and hard tops.

There was a TBN member here back until about 2005 or so with the User name "Junkman" who collected old cars. Heck, your "junk" looks pretty good to a lot of us here. Hopefully you reside outside of the rust belt.

The white bike in your second pic on the left...'77 Kawasaki H1 500 or H2 750?

Ken, agree 100% with your comment about cordless tool batteries...it would make perfect sense for the companies to develop one universal battery mount, but then they might lose a sale because your Dewalt battery would fit a Skil drill...

My peeve along the same line is printer ink cartridges, would it be THAT difficult for the various companies to develop a universal fit cartridge?

Remember way back when elec. was first generated . Tools could be used on A/c or D/c voltage And worked forever or until something broke. Now with batterys may be unusable before taken out of box.
I am going back to plugging in my tools the cord isn't much of a problem . Sure don't change out the power cord after 10 screws.
Does going green mean we will lose that magic wall plug.?

Ask him if he has a YZ-400 instead...to me that was THE ultimate dirt bike.....

Best dirt bike I could ever afford was a Montesa 175 Enduro, looked pretty ugly compared to the fancy, shiny "street scramblers" my buddies rode but I could kick their a**es in the rough stuff.

Any mention of dirt bikes makes me think of "Full Bore racing lubricant".

And the slogan: "The older I get, the faster I was..."

Some people, as they mature, switch from the accumulation phase to a philanthropy phase of their lives.

I took your advise and googled Barney Riggs ... very good reading ... you should seek the movie rights. That was a very interesting read ... hard times made for hard men.

Hard to beat the Honda XR350R. That is what I learned to ride on and it still scares me at times.

I didn't read all the responses but I sympathize with all of you. I am a moderate packrat. I don't buy stuff unless needed but I keep what I have got. Like 3 ft of wire, 1ft of conduit, broken tine from the rake etc.
My wife is different story though. How many shoes and outfits woman needs? It boggles my mind.

But there is something else I want to tell you. This is how you can tell that you live in "developed" country. If you can buy stuff you want but not necessarily need. In emerging countries people can by the stuff they need and in undeveloped countries people struggle just to get some of the stuff they need.
So we are lucky to live in the USA.

Well stated, what you say about us living in a developed country...I am sure that explains why my wife has 120 pair of shoes and could wear a different outfit every day for six months...and in the meantime she would still buy more of each.

BTW, exactly what would you do with a broken rake tine?

Years back, my parents bought a house in Florida very cheap. It was cheap because it was absolutely filled with stuff. The previous owner had to go to a nursing home. His wife had died years earlier, and they had been survivalists, they had hoarded hundreds of cases of canned goods, and everything else you can think of. The guy ended up living in 2 rooms, a bathroom and part of the kitchen. Every other room was full to the top, they discarded nothing. It took weeks to clear everything off the property. BTW, in Florida, canned goods rust after a few years.
