Which Rattle-can Paint is closest to Kioti Orange?

I don't know anything about "old Kioti", but current Kioti has more red than either Kubota. Again, Chevy engine orange was a dead ringer when I needed that shade for my RFM. When tried it to touch up a Kubota implement, it was far too red.

Old Kubota was a dull, yellowish/brown orange, if that makes sense. New Kubota is brighter, more vibrant orange, but doesn't have the red tint of Kioti.

Hey Pack,

Took my grill guard off to start working on it. I washed it down and turned it over to try a little experiment. I taped off the side of the attachment plate that goes against the frame. Here are some of my photos showing before and after pics. I used a can of the "Chevy Engine Orange" enamel. Here we go.....

Before....

Here are the after pics....

(in the first 2 pics, the original paint is on the left, rust-oleum on the right)

I used Rust-Oleum's Chevy Engine Orange. It is sooo close to the factory color!

After letting is set for several hours, I noticed that it doesn't have quite the sheen that the factory paint does, even though it is an enamel finish. I would probably suggest a can of clear to give your paint work a nice glossy finish if you are going to use this paint.

I plan to add expanded metal on the outside to prevent debris going thru it and damaging the front of the tractor.

Hope this helps you......
Greg

Nice work! Looks factory from where I sit!

Expanded metal? - can you say more about this and how you are planning to use it / pics too, if possible? ( I just found out I pushed something through the grill, don't know what or when, but I did it some fairly serious damage). :(

Didn't do anything that can't be fixed though...

Thanks.
CM

And to the op- thanks for this thread.:D

CM,

First pic is expanded metal. This is a heavier grade than what you will find at Lowe's, Home Depot, or TSC. This is a quarter sheet and cost me about $22. Second pic is me just laying it down on the guard where it will go on the outside....a reference photo. I will have to cut it to fit and contour it but I will take and post pics while I do it.

I busted the plastic grill (below the headlights) with debris when using my pallet forks.

That's exactly what I need to do too!:D
Looks like a step up from hardware cloth.
That is definitely a vulnerable area and hard to know when things are attacking it when one is working the machine.
Thanks for the pics- will be interested in how you attach it to the "brush guard" ha)- doesn't really guard anything the way it's designed.

Keep up the good work!

Packmate CM,

You're welcome!

Packmate Greg,

SOLD! You have convinced me! This "Ford Guy" has a newound LOVE for Chevy Engine Block Orange! A can of this will soon appear in my shop and "Kioti" on tape will cover the word "Chevy" :D

Ammo cans etc in this "Kioti" color will soon appear also!

PS - I too am VERY interested in your addition to the brush guard idea (except I have no welder :() I hope I can come up with a different attachment method. Luckily I have not hit the tractor directly dealing with this mess [see pic] but I did break a $150 hyd line & lose a nut on the grapple when a 12' cedar came straight back thru the grapple...

Where did you get the material?

Thanks to all!
Be well,
David

Hey Moss, get you a MIG welder.... learning isn't that hard ......even a caveman can do it. Most community colleges have classes, or you can read up on it and bungle through until you get it right like I did. I bought a MillerMatic 210 before I retired off Craigslist. It has paid for itself many many times already in a little over 4 years.

Oh, and Millermatic....they are FORD Blue;)

Having trouble seeing the pic of the damage?!:)
Be careful- the grapple can get one into some trouble- ask me how I know!:D

BTW, I don't think you'd necessarily have to weld the brush guard screen onto the guard- but let's see what teh designer comes up with first.
