Hi guys,

Quick question... Thinking of buying a Long 510 .. it has 2100 hours and is in good condition overall. A bit dirty and has a fuel leak - looks like it's coming from the injector pump - but overall looks good.

Anyway, the 3pt goes up just fine - however, it needs weight on it to go down - not a lot of weight.

Anyway, I want to use a disc with this tractor so I'll need down pressure on the 3pt.

Any thoughts on this one? What the prob could be? Is this tractor designed to push the 3pt down?

Thanks guys

I don't know anything about a Long 510. I don't know of any tractors with down pressure on the three point either.

I'm not familiar with your tractor, but I've had a Bolens Iskea and a TYM. Both had a valve that you could turn to reduce or increase the speed with which the 3 pt hitch would fall. Hopefully you have a manual, or look around the tranny for a valve.

Hi i use to own a long 510 DTC good tractor 1986 yr , i beat the S%^^ out of it and it kept on working , darn good tractor. there is no down pressure on the 3pth , you have only lift, you can control the speed of drop by a knob etc ... on the right side below the seat.Longs are known for leaks from what i was told by my use to be dealer he quit etc...... they are known for both oil and fuel leaks although small they can cause dirt etc to stick and accumulate , i pressure washed mine every so often and also repaired them.they are also known for some brake problems hard to stop , the emergency brake very good the wheel brakes so so, you need them set so very little foot pedal applied to stop etc..... they are band brakes, after certain yr they improved the brakes etc..... as far as leverage to apply i think after 1986 for the improvement on the brakes. over all i like the tractor and my youngest brother like it also to the point he bought it from me for his farm, when i was looking at a bigger tractor, he still has it yet i bought it new in 1988 it still runs strong the hr meter says 3000 hrs and has been broken for several yrs. (4) at least but the tractor doesnt get worked that much or that hard now , kinda in retirement, fo backup it also has a FEL we adapted to it ,works very well from the remotes. easy on fuel I hope this helps you have a good 1
