If anyone wants to chime in, thought it might be interesting to know what attachments or anything else to do with tractors have you seen on TBN that you either never have heard of before or just plain dont know what the heck it is. There will be many for me I'm sure but here are two right off the bat.
1. What is a flail mower, never heard of it til perusing the ol pages of TBN
2. The quick hitch. We have had these on the loader, makes swapping from forks to bucket easy and quick, but have never heard of such a thing for 3 point hook up. Might need to check into that.

A flail mower cuts grass without throwing rocks into cars on the highway like a bushog does.

The quick Hitch means you back up to the implement.....lift and go.

Both of the above are oversimplified, but correct nonetheless

I was not aware of the quick hitch until I saw one on TBN. I picked up one within a couple of weeks. Can't live without it now.

TBN is a great place to learn things.

A flail mower is what you use to make your mowing job take longer, use more fuel to get less done, and keep the parts man and mechanics busy, all the while emptying your wallet at an incredible pace.

I agree 100%. I hate those mowers.

They have their uses, but they have a number of liabilities too. I TRIED to fit them into the game plan with my mowing business. That was a waste of time AND money. Some people believe that when something is more complicated, it MUST be better.....I just believe it's more complicated.

ditto that. at work we are upgrading alot of analog equipment ( alot of WORKING analog equipment ) to digital. total change over.. lots fo training.. steep learning curve...

and of course.. the rep and the new kids out of college want the digital because it's 'better'.. :)

hmph... just more money and an excuse to change.. if you ask me..

You're not just talking the wall clocks are you? My kids wouldn't be able to survive without a digital wall clock. It would take them 45 minutes to figure out if it was 1 or 2 oclock on an analog wall clock. :(

all right none of yall are listing the implements/attachments that you dont understand or never heard of. I guess im the only dummy out there

Well this isnt one I dont know what it is, but it took me 3 months to figure out what the abv. PHD (the attachment) means, it turns out it is post hole digger. Well I have never been able to figure out what a soil pulverizer is for, anyone?

/ What the heck is that? #14
Pulverizer breaks up clods. Not everyone has the type of dirt that forms clods.

google is your friend. :D there are a number of plows that I don't know anything about and could not tell you the differences between or how they should be used. I just haven't had a need to learn yet so am content to sit quietly by and absorb. :p

A thread of descriptions and how to use ought to dredge up plenty of conflicting information and heated opinions. Let's Go! Who wants to start? I only know rotary mower, landscape rake and box blade. Not much there to discuss. Next!

Been around this stuff off & on most of my life. Still lots of it that I don't know about. What really gets me at times is the initials, without a picture I just scratch my head at times.

There are many attachments and other tractor parts that I did not know what they were until reading about them on this forum and sometimes having to Google them.
A sample of things I didn't know a year ago but by far not all of them.
PHD- post hole digger
TLB- Tractor, Loader, Backhoe
FEL- front end loader
The usefulness of 4wd (four wheel drive) on a small tractor.
That it is easier to mow with a Hydro drive than gear drive tractor, especially when slowing down to go around things.
What a Flail mower is ( I haven't seen one in person but evidently they are expensive and don't work very well and start a lot of arguments on forums)
That Kioti is really pronounced Coyote even though it really looks more like a Kubota.
That chains really are better for tying down your tractor on a trailer than straps. (even though I stubbornly used straps until my 20 year old told me what a pain it was to avoid all of the sharp edges)
What a bunch of smart and nice people there are on this forum.
