horrendous gear box noise

Sudden noise like gear box was full of nuts and bolts came on last night in my Iseki 2160. No noise when clutch is depressed but comes on when clutch released, whether in gear or in neutral, is is the gear box or lay shaft or something else?

G'day sounds like a brg failure in the g/box i think you can lift the top off the box on those without too much hassle to have a look see. Good luck

No telling what may have broken, but you're going to have to open the gearbox.
It's all speculation until you do that...

... or change the tranny fluid. Memories of a 15 year old '71 SAAB 99. Car came with 4 speed std & freewheel. Got it stuck in 2nd gear on a Merrit Parkway onramp. Got home and drained the transmission and watched in horror as pieces of bronze synchro cone came out with the oil.

Hope your experience is less expensive.

At any rate, it sounds expensive...maybe you can take on the repairs, but gearboxes are very trying to fix...
