New to me L3240

Picked it yesterday. It will be working on our property this afternoon. Now to get a rotary cutter for it.

It has a few cosmetic issues but those will get worked out over time.

Looks like a new trailer will be required once you get the rotary cutter. L3240 just fits without it.

Yep, you are correct. This trailer usually hauls the jeep around. I have always wanted a gooseneck, now I might have a reason to get one.

Very nice little tractor, I don't worry about a few cosmetic issues on a tractor, if they don't have them I buy it, it doesn't take long to accumulate them.

The trailer is 14' flat with 2' dovetail. It has two 3500 axles with brakes on both axles. I have never weighed it and I bought it used so don't have any paperwork on it. The tractor and loader should be very close to all this trailer should carry. Everything rode very well with no issues. I was overweight on my receiver as i don't have a WD hitch.

Reason I asked is I have 16' with a 2' dovetail, dual axle but only brakes on one axle. Its rated at 7,000 GVW. It also would be pushing the limit if I wanted to tow my L4400, especially with the FEL and a rear implement attached. I'm willing to bet yours is also rated at 7,000lbs. I'm not sure what your new L weighs though. No biggie, I was just curious.

You're going to love the GL. I'm guessing your rear tires aren't loaded. I know I could never load my 4240 backwards with loaded tires like that. It would put way too much weight on the rear hitch. If they aren't loaded that's one thing you'll want to think about or maybe a ballast box (if you don't want the extra weight while on grass) so you can get the most out of that loader.

I have not checked to see if the tires are loaded yet. Going to do that today.

I did find my first big problem yesterday. Drove it down the road to borrow a bushhog and I have a bent rim or at least I hope that is what the problem is. You can't tell anything is wrong at slow speeds only, thats why I did not notice it when I was checking it out. I knew the tractor had a bent fender and 1/2 broke rear tail light. My guess is when those got damaged the rim got bent by whatevet the tractor hit or hit the tractor. I am going to contact the guys at Barlows today and see if they will help me out this this. I really hope so.

I am guessing it weighs from 4000 to 4500 with the loader. The specs say it is 3000 to 3500 but I have been told those numbers might be without fluids. I want to say the loader is around 1000, could be wrong but thought I saw that somewhere. Short attachments will be hanging over the dovetail, a bushhog will be hanging over the end. If I get anything it will be at least 20'.

He's going to be very close to your tractor weight. Factory specs put them within a couple hundred pounds. The difference could grow if both tractors have filled tires. Your L4400 has bigger rear tires and will hold more fluid.

I hauled my L4400 many, many times with a FEL on a 16' cargo trailer with no brakes. I hauled it a few times with the FEL and a 6' brush cutter. That wasn't quite as pleasant.

As the OP said, it's a good reason to get a GN, that's what I finally did.

Lastly, my Brother bought a L3240 last fall. They are a great tractor. Feels a little underpowered to me but I'm used to 12 more HP on the same size chassis. But he never notices and loves his.
