I have gotten great deals from auctions and Kijiji. Craigs around here seems kinda useless. This past weekend I bought a dirt scoop for fifteen bucks to go with my 12 dollar boom pole, 25 dollar post hole digger and 25 dollar two bottom plow:eek:
I find a lot of times at estate auctions there is some stuff that fits on compact tractors and most of the people do not even know what it is

Hey, here's my guy right here. This is who I bought my cutter from!!! Sorry I couldn't remember his name..... Old age.... :p

My Brother and I have put a lot of hours on that cutter. I got a good deal!!!

Glad it works for you, I just didn't need it anymore! ~~ grnspot (aka-Lowell Gates)

on my local free online classified site have seen stuff like a john deere 48 inch 3ph rototiller for $300obo and a john deere 52 inch 3ph finishing mower for $400obo. (never bought any of them tho as I dont have a tractor) (hate being 14 and living in in a large-ish city lot in a small-ish town) (sucks even more that my dad and I used to have 2 and a half acres):(

Where's that? Decent tillers are always at least $250/ft around here.

I totally agree with everything you said.

I cringe when I see posts of owners buying new attachments with their tractor when buying so they can take advantage of low interests rates with their financing. I'm not talking about an FEL, I'm talking about box blades, etc.

I have never bought a new attachment. I, like you, shop craigslist. Last Summer I bought a Rhino 6' brushcutter off an ad in Craigslist. If I remember right I paid $550. Turned out to be a poster on this website but I can't remember his name. He traded tractors and simply didn't need the cutter anymore. He priced it to sell. I was diligent in my searches and responded immediately to his add. This cutter is in very, very good shape. I've not priced a new one but I'm guessing I got in at less than half price.

Patience is a virtue when buying used equipment. And lastly, a dealership is not the place to do it. Private sales is where the bargains are.

I have searched ebay and craigs list and have never found such a deal on anything I was looking for. Searched months for a used ZTR before buying new, looked for a tiller before buying new, etc. No luck for me.

It seems every area is different. Some places it's Craig's List. Other's it's the want ads or Kijiji. Auctions are hit and miss depending on where you are, too. You just have to know your area.

I go to auctions for the fun of it. I love the crowd and the atmosphere. My kids always beg to come. They bring their hard earned allowance money and blow it all on burgers and candy bars from the overpriced concessions trailer.

When you think about it, auctions are like casinos- entertainment, food, and the chance to "win" something. Plus, there's never a cover charge!

used victoria.com in victoria bc canada this was a fairly old one with alot of surface rust but i am sure it was functional. I think it was either a case of wanting it gone fast, or not knowing what it is worth.:2cents:

I know that feeling. I looked for six months to find my brushcutter. I've been looking for a gooseneck trailer for over a year. Finally found one, had to drive 300 miles roundtrip to get it but it's just what I needed and at a good price. As my Mom says, "Patience is a Virtue". :)
