Hunting wild asparagus

Besides being excellent eating (for some but not all) a couple of rows planted along the drive makes for a real good snow fence.

I planted 15 crowns last year and got 12 nice ferns/plants. This season, they are not quite ready for harvest, but I have given in and snapped off a few spears as big around as 3/8" diameter and 8" tall. I eat them raw and they are tender and delicious. My wife and I planted 20 more crowns this spring and I can't wait to pick a couple of pounds in a few years. I just don't know if I can stand to wait until we cook them. They are one of the best tasting raw vegetables I've ever eaten.:licking:

Wow, you planted last year and have actually been able to harvest some already this year. We had to wait the second year to start getting anything from our plants and that was slim. The third year was when they finally started producing decently.....good for you!!!
