But that's with you doing the labor right? I am talking about the cost if they were to do the oil/filter change for you?

Duckhunter, it sounds about right on prices. That one filter is pretty darn expensive. I used the bobcat filters because at the time I had trouble cross referencing them, but I did not use their fluid. I bought the generic trans/hydrostat fluid at a local Napa - the stuff meets the specs for JD, New Holland, etc - and saved a lot of $ :) I also used deisel oil that meet the specs in the manual and saved some more $. I learned on TBN that dealers cannot require you to use their fluid or void your warranty as long as you use products / oils that meet the manufacturers specs. If they did they would have to supply you with it for free. Just think all Fords under warranty would have to be running motorcraft oils.

So here in the North the cost of all parts and oil is $380.84 for the complete 50 hr service from the Bobcat dealer.

$78 for that filter is, of course, ridiculous. Bobcat fluids look to be about
2x what you get equivalent alternatives for.

As for cross-referencing the Bobcat filters, have you tried Kioti? When I
got my first Kioti, I had little incentive to find any alternatives, because
all the filter prices were quite reasonable.

Thanks for the info Duckhunter.

The filters are expensive, but in context the Bobcats aren't any different than the other manufacturer brand. The last time I changed the hydraulic filter on my John Deere it costs me about $50. The filter itself was about $35 and a gallon of their Hy-gard fluid was about $15. After 11 years of trouble free operating with Deere filters and fluids in my older tractor, I'll probably stick with the Bobcat filters and fluids for my new tractor also.

I have been using the BC filters when I change my fluids but I ended up buying Rotella engine oil, the same I use in my truck, and my local oil company sells Conoco Powertran for the hydraulic/trans fluid. We sat down and compared the specs and they meet all the same specs. I want to say I paid $53 per 5 gallon pail for it. That sure beats what BC wanted for theirs.

You will find many threads on here about what others are using but it is really your preference and whether or not you can justify spending the money BC wants for their fluid.

I bought the Bobcat filters and trans/diff. fluid for the 50hr service and did it myself. The total was about $350 but I found a dealer (other than the one I bought from) that let me put the $250 refer a friend coupon toward it. Like some others I opted to use Rotella Syn. engine oil.

Had my 335 delivered to the house yesterday, dealer said the 50hr service was about $1100.00 in the shop so i should do it myself and then give them the filters for warrenty, and that is what i'm gonna do.

Yeah I **** near choked... but I never planned on having them do any of the services if i didn't have too... didn't do a four year apprenticeship as a millwright to let some other guy change my oil and filters ;)

He even said to do it myself...at least he's honest :)

Now it's time to accessorize! (Now I know how the wife feels!)
