gt275 stator replacement

My '95 model GT275 with Kawasaki 17hp engine needs a new stator....picked up the stator a couple of weeks ago...now,where in heck is it located?Is it on the bottom of the crankshaft? Can you get to it without taking the engine out? Any and all input appreciated!

I believe it is under the flywheel. Take the top tin cover off the engine,
use a puller to remove the flywheel, (there is a key there) and you
should be staring at the stator.

Gracias Dutch! I was thinking it may of been under the electric clutch....but topside is alot better....I dont have to get down on my back! Thanks again!

by testing it electrically....it's output was way off... Also, ohmed it and wasnt in Jd's parameters..

Make sure you get the flywheel nut torqued down good or the flywheel key will shear. I use my 1/2 inch impact wrench, but there is specs for proper torque.
