Pulled the B7800 out yesterday to do maintenance. While extending the upper arm on the BH, the control lever was extremely hard to push and pull. The lever stickes in the open or closed position, and will not return to neutral position without forcing. I don't remember doing anything out of the ordinary with the backhoe. It has worked great for any digging that I have done.

The hoe is a three point unit, with a selfcontained hydralic reservoir. Fluid is clear, and at the full point. All the other functions of the hoe work as exspected. Please help.

What you describe sounds like a mechanical linkage problem, not a hydraulic one. I would clean and lubricate all of the joints between the joystick and the valve body.

Thanks. I'll give that a shot.

Kennyd. I just got off the tractor and emtied half a bottle of wd-40 on the linkage. To my suprise, after about 5 minutes of working the linkage, it started to break loose, and now works perfect. My faith in simple advice is restored. I have to admit, I initially thought your suggestion was BS. Thanks for your help. wt

Good Wayne, glad it helped. Now get a real lubricant like Fluid Film that will last and you will be all the more better... You may think that's BS advice as well, but WD40 is really a poor lubricant.

WD-40, "Water Displacement-40", took inventor 40 attempts to make it.....

Since WD-40 contains solvent, the lubricants tend get obliterated after a while.....WD-40 lubricates well for a moment, but as kennyd posts, one have to re-lube with "real" lubricant....

WD-40 is a very interesting product with a great history, and there are a few myths about it too....since recipe is a secret, who know if it contains fish oil or not....

I made some online reserch and found a lot of good sources for info....
Here is a few samples
