I saw a sunrise on the way to work that was so nice I had to stop and snap a picture with my crappy cell phone camera. Even a crappy cell phone camera can't ruin this picture, but nothing will beat being there in person.

I consider myself very skilled at taking pics with pro 35mm equipment, and I must say that you took a great picture with one of the more rudimentary types of camera....GREAT JOB.

There are very few sights I would rather see than a beautiful sunrise, sunset or rainbow. :thumbsup: Photos are great but they are still like watching the Indy 500 on TV instead of seeing it in person.

My wife wonders why I like to get up early even though I'm retired. Often I sit at my computer and watch the sun paint the whole sky pink as it comes up. Sunsets are normally red/orange mostly here, but sunrises are mostly pink.

I can't decide what I like better ... sunsets on vast plains or sunsets over the water? You can't get both from the same location.

Jinman, when I was working, I would get up between 4:30 and 5 am, now that I jumped off the treadmill over 8 years ago, people seem curious as to why I still get up so early when I don't have to...that's it exactly, I don't HAVE to get up at that time, I WANT to, so I can enjoy as much of my day as possible. There is a big difference between HAVING to get up and WANTING to.

Jim, it's the opposite here. We usually have an orange or pink sky in the morning and a red sky in the evening. This is good since I live close to the coast and the old saying goes:
"Red sky in the morning, sailor take warning,
Red sky at night, fisherman's delight"
