Oil wt for jd 4700

I bought a 10 year old jd 4700. What wt oil should I use? I live in north east pennsylvania

Do you have the manual for the tractor? If not, you can purchase one at John Deere Technical Information Bookstore - Home Page Get the CD as its usually half the cost of the hardcopy and you can print out replacement pages as needed. If you're going to be doing you're own maintenance and repairs, the shop manual is worth owning too.

I have been running 15w40, 5w40 and now 0w40 oil in my JD 4700.

Just pay attention to the temperature and oil type used.

I'd put Shell Rotella T 15W-40 in it. Available at Walmart.

I use Rotella T 5W-40 synthetic in everything I own. You only need to stock one oil that way.

I do the same thing - except with Rotella 15W-40 dino oil. Mowers, dirtbikes, tractors...everything gets the same oil.

See your friendly Deere dealer. They have the oil specific for diesel and will be good to know if other parts are needed.
