I'd been wanting to replace my 1510's standard 8-18 rice tires for a while, to better suit my non-rice-field-tilling usage. I mostly use it for running my finish mower on my yard, mulch/loam/compost moving with the loader and wagon, or clearing snow with the loader & 4' snow blower.

I finally settled on these off-road truck tires: TSL Bogger size 33x10.5x16LT from Interco.

And I got a pair of rims from Hoye's partial turf package (I got 8 inch wide instead of 8.5, and I got the widest backspacing he could make with an 8 inch rim).

I had the rims shipped to my local Interco dealer (Elias 4 Wheel Drive Center) who mounted the tires, and then I had them filled with 10 gal each of Rimguard at the local Kubota dealer. This added 110-115 lbs per tire.

I also got a set of chains (my driveways usually get icy in the winter) from TireChains.com.

The end result: I think it looks great, and it handles much better in the snow. I stayed inside my 4' snowblower and loader width (tracks are 46.5 inches wide now) and gained some clearance between the lower lift arms and the inside edges of the tires. Perhaps when the glaciers in my yard recede I can see how the handling improves on something other than snow, too.

Those Boggers look really, really good! I like it. Those tires work pretty well on Jeeps and stuff too. I think you'll be pleased for your purposes. I bet the extra 220lbs in them will help too. Let us know how they work, in snow as well as for loader work after the snow is gone.

I wish I had my loader done.. Starting to run out of places to put all the snow!

Yeah, I told the wife what they were usually used on and she said, "Hmmmm.... yeah, those WOULD look good on my Jeep!"

That looks pretty sweet, does anyone know if you can do this on the larger yanmars? 2000 series

For the 2000 you could use this size 19.5/44-16LT 44.1 inches tall, compared to stock ag tires which are 42 inches tall.

Yeah, at 15 inch wide tread and 18 inches wide at the fattest part of the tire, those might make California's 240 look like it has skinny rears. :) Kinda pricey though.

I think a 19.5" truck tire would have a very stiff casing. Plus expensive wheels.

I have read there are narrow turf tires to fit the stock 24" rims, and some owners say turfs are better than ag tires in snow after you get chains on them.

Its a 16 inch tire, 19.5 inches wide

Those tires look really good on your 1510. I can agree that R1 tires are not my favorite choice for snow. I have considered getting a wider profile tire for my yanmar but havent for a few reasons;

1. spendy to get new rims + tires
2. I like the narrow stance of my tractor so I can get into places that are really tight, my current stace is 40" wide, my riding lawn mower is wider than that!

Your american-market yanmar has R1's, and I might have stuck to those if I had them, but the grey market ones (like mine) have R2's. Supposedly for working in an all-mud situation, like a rice paddy. The R2's have really deep lugs. In a dry snow a few inches deep, my tracks look like I was driving a rototiller with no center tines. I was also pretty sure if I tried to add chains they'd just slip down between the lugs and not help at all.

Incidentally, these anchors were on my old wheels -- I didn't notice them much because they were on the inner side and I had my tires reversed for the extra width. I assume they were for attaching either duals, or for attaching one of those metal contraptions that looks like a big hamster wheel that I've seen in pictures of rice paddy tilling. Are they useful to anyone?

Well the snow at my house is in fact gone (although I hear there's still a pile that hasn't melted in Natick), so it's time for an update.

I did move some mulch this spring with the loader, and the biggest difference I noticed doing that was driving on pavement is much, much smoother than it was with the rice tires. I took a few rocks out of my ballast box and still get great traction. The new tires still do a fine job of digging into the ground when I'm pushing into the pile, too.

The biggest difference I see is using my finish mower. I have a pretty uneven yard, and going up some of the inclines while pulling the mower was a challenge before -- I used to use the diff lock a lot. The added weight in the new tires makes one heck of a difference when pulling the dead weight of the mower (its weight sits entirely on its own wheels). I've mowed the yard dry and wet and don't have to use the diff lock at all anymore.

When things are wet, the front tires do at least as much damage to the yard as the new rears do. Since the new tires contact the ground across their whole width, I find that the inner tire will leave some tracks on a sharp turn if there isn't healthy grass covering that spot. And speaking of turns, I find that the new rears tend to push the front in a straight line more than the old ones did. So I find myself using the brakes to help with sharp turns a lot more.

A couple of pictures -- one of a muddy spot that the rice tires used to tear apart trying to pull the mower through. Still some damage, but not near as bad. And then a picture of some soft wet sand I drove across -- notice the mower wheel sinks in just as much as the loaded tires do, so I don't think I'm adding much compaction to the lawn.
