Mahindra HST Reverse Speed Mod?

I'm happy with my 2615 HST so far. But I don't like how the reverse is 1/2 the forward speed in the HST. There doesn't appear to be a stopping bolt to remove or grind down to increase the reverse speed.

Does anyone know of a way to modify the HST to increase reverse speed?

Most of my operating is done in mid-range which has adequate reverse speed. This includes mowing, grading, and loader work. I agree, when I use low range reverse is slow, but I expect it to be, and it doesn't bother me. If it does, I shift up to mid-range.

Humm, it isn't adequate for me. I'd like to go backwards just as fast as forwards.

On my 3215 there is a stop screw that I was able to adjust to allow the peddle to go down more and thus increase my speed. Take another closer look.

HST is right where it needs to be on these small Mitsu's. Try operating that shuttle shift in a 40x400 chickenhouse for a few hours! That's an ouch.

hehe ... I'm glad we're all good humored here.

BTW, just being in a chicken house is ouch enough already, I don't blame you for wanting to make the time as comfy and short as possible!

I spend way too much time there....anything that helps the job go a little faster and easier is welcome. Glad we only clean out a couple times a year. I thought I'd get more help from my older kids and wife with a HST, but no luck.

I'm gonna check fro a way to increase my reverse speed!

I'm not sure if the 2615 is using the same setup as the 2815 HST but you can check to make sure that the Reverse Side Stopper is set to the correct measurement. For my tractor it calls for adjusting the stopper bolt to the referential measurement of 23mm (0.91 in) and tighten the locknut.

Yeah I have the same complaint. When I am scraping down my driveway with the bucket for snow removal it is a pain to switch from Med. to Hi range every time I back up. If I don't switch it then it is rediculusly slow. If I run it in High it doesn't have enough power to push the snow.

Yes, but there are lists of chores waiting inside, and while on the tractor outside....all you can hear is the humming of the motor !!

did you ever find a fix? i too find it way too slow in reverse in the mid range gear, where i operate most of the times due to the terrain on my property

i am considering cutting the top of the reverse pedal off and adding a piece of threaded rod inbetween to extend the amount of travel i get. The pedal bottoms now out on the deck of the tractor. i have looked for other adjustments but dont see any.
