Dec 29 - A big thanks to all for your suggestions, I kept in L range and rpms over 2000 and it worked perfect. I even made a little hill for the grandsons to play on over Xmas.

Now you can fine tune things. You MAY be able to use med range if you keep your rpms up and don't depress the peddle all the way. That may give a little more speed than the fastest you can go in low with the peddle to the floor. Remember, the further down you depress the pedal, the higher the gear you're putting it in just like shifting to a higher gear on a gear tractor but you have an infinite # of gears. If you want to understand how an HST works, I saw a video once on "How stuff works" or a similar website. I tried finding it again and was going to post it but couldn't find it. If you watch it, it's very illuminating and simple to understand. Shows the swash plate and how it adjusts the flow of the fluid. Very neat!
