How many engines do you own?

/ How many engines do you own? #51
At home:
1 Wifes car
1 my truck
1 mower
1 chainsaw
1 generator
1 long reach limb saw
1 100 Gal spray rig
1 snowblower
1 power washer.
2 leaf blowers

At the farm:
2 tractors
3 ride on mowers
2 chainsaws

I guess that makes 18 total.

I really notice when it comes time for maintenance. I do collect muscle cars, so my count may be raised a little for that. It would take too long to list them individually, so I'll just break it down between diesel and gas. I have 14 (all working) diesel engines, 34 gasoline engines and 3 propane engines I have to maintain and keep serviced. Oops, I forgot my 5 Jet Skis. Make that 39 gas engines rather than 34 (all 5 Jet Skis are modern 4 stroke engines and 2 are super charged). So, that adds up to 56 engines.

Aww, heck, I forgot to include the half a dozen or so push mowers, 3 backpack leaf blowers, 2 hand held leaf blowers, 3 chain saws and 5 string trimmers. At first I think I was only thinking about all the ones I have to worry about batteries with. So, including my smaller mowing equipment, I guess it gives me around 69 engines to maintain. Only 56 of them have starter motors. :)

I am down to 21 or 22 . Should have had kids to help maintain things. Latest addition has me feeling old, shop manual seems like another language. Mercury Racing 300XS 2-stroke outboard. Detroit Diesel Series 60 is alittle over my head too. Nothing has ever just hummed along like my NH yanmar.....utter simplicity.

Back about 2006 or so, there was a thread going around this forum on TBN about how many CYLINDERS the engines you had totaled, and supposedly the ideal number was one cylinder per year of your age...

Okay now, I'm going to list every engine I own, running or not, largest to smallest.

Airstream motor home, 454 V8
Yukon XL 2500, 6.0 V8
Ford Crown Victoria, 5.0 V8
Ford F150, 4.9 six
Buick Lesabre, 3.8 V6
Olds Cutlass Supreme, 3.4 V6
Saturn L-300, 3.0 V6
Ford Jubilee tractor
John Deere 4210
John Deere 318
Pair of Honda Foreman ATV's
10 hp Tecumseh genset
2 gas power washers
2 rototillers
Craftsman chipper shredder
Ten (yes, TEN) assorted push mowers
Four gas powered weedeaters
Four gas powered blowers
Four snowblowers, one 2-stage, 3 single stage

STOP LAUGHING, there are only forty of them.

See.....it's so easy to forget some!

2 of the engines I own are a bit of a funny story.....I bought a towable Gravely wood chipper and a tow behind sprayer (with engine) at an online auction last year (2009). The wood chipper I just moved out of storage a few months ago and let the FIL have it for a few days....(he's my resident mechanic) cause I didn't even know if it would run.....well he got it running and it sounds pretty nice, the one time I've heard it!
The sprayer is still sitting in my enclosed trailer.....never even yanked on the starter yet......!

Marriage security. I think the only reason my wife keeps me around is to fix things (constantly) and maintain her vehicles, our kid's vehicles and the machines she will operate. If she dumps me, she can't keep her dream home because she cannot maintain it nor keep the equipment going it takes to do so.
