Is the tranny fan ok?

Yeah its Ok! The 2305 recently had its yearly annual service inspection and the previous owner is giving me a copy of the service and maintence records that were done on the 2305. My 2305 has never been in the bush or on a Roto Tiller or bushhog, all its done is cut grass and blow out a fairly long laneway. I don't plan or rototilling or bush hogging with it, just some light snow removal ( about 4-7 laneways) and cutting grass. Might put the hydrolic Dump MCS from my 455 on the 2305 or it may go on the X744, we will see in the spring.

Congrats on your 2305!

I have owned mine since 03/2007. Other than a battery go out, it has been trouble free for me. Battery was covered under warranty anyway. If you use it in high brush areas, a skid plate may be a good solution. Mine is equipped with 62MMM FEL and Backhoe. I actually love it and planning on hanging with it for a long time.

What do you have for a hydraulic dump MCS? I am interested in something I can collect and dump into a trailer with.

John Deere offered a Hydrolic Dump Collection system with a seperate power pack engine that was either a Kawaski 5hp motor or a 5hp Honda. I have the Kawaski engine on mine. Deere offered this system for the 4X5 series as well as the 4100 -4400 compact tractors & the 655-955 models. For the compacts it mounted on the 3-point hitch, but I had to put special brackets on the 455 for it to run the bagger.

I am debating weather to put this system on the 2305 for next fall or the X744, I am leaning towards the X744 or I might end up selling the F1145 and leave the bagger on my 455, but we will see what happens in the spring.

The bagger is very slick, holds 13 bushels of leafs/ grass clippings but I would not try and pickup walnuts with it, as the blower impeller on the bagger is a hard plastic and could damage it. The bagger will clear the back of a pickup or trailer, I really like this system a lot, buts it a harder to find MCS as Deere quite building it or offering it after the 4X5 series was discontinued. It orginally was introduced back in the days of the 318-430 Garden tractors and was not offered for the X series. I should be able to mount the thing on the X744 without a problem.

Yeah, the Previous owner replaced the battery on my 2305 a couple of years back. I don't intend to use my 2305 in high brush areas, but I may look into it just in case a customer calls for some brush clearing. I don't plan to push this thing too hard, just going to do mowing and light snow removal. Not sure if I will get aftermarket foldable ROPS for it or not, still in the air.

You'll do fine with your 2305. I have a 2004 2210 now pushing 550 hours, AND the original battery! (the battery has been babied; I keep a trickle charger on it when I'm not using it for more than 2 weeks and never run the engine less than 10 minutes) The old 2210 has scars - dropped things on the hood with the loader- but running stronger than ever and she's plenty busy pushing snow around this winter. Sure wish I'd invested in the snowblower. I'm running HDAP tires which are great for snow.
Most transaxle problems I've ever heard about were the operator's fault; too long a PTO shaft, driving in the sticks, etc.

Well I got the 2305 home this evening, after spending the morning digging out the trailer that was under 2.5 feet of snow but the effort was worth wild and now I have a 2305 sitting in my yard. For a sub-compact tractor, she has plenty of power and with the 4X4 is a world of a difference from my old 96 Agco -Allis 1920H Gas mower and blower that was 2wd. Really happy with it so far, looking forward to the next snow fall now, as I won't be digging her out( hopefully not but can still happen) from getting stuck. The old Agco was always getting stuck and took forever to get the laneway blown out.

Will be using the 2305 for grass cutting the larger properties I maintain, but I am not giving up my Deere X744 AWS as I really like the 4 wheel steering for the more challenging lawns that I mow... That and I have a soft spot for the X700 series as well.

Do you other 2210/2305 owners put Diesel fuel conditioner in yours for easier starting in cold weather? Really chilly for the next few days, suppost to go down to -16. Any recommendations for block heaters? How many here plug in their 2305's/2210s in cold weather? Unfortunately mine has to sit outside for a couple days till the sheds rearranged, which is a challenge in its self.

The glow plugs only fire when the starter is cranking, so cold starts can be slow and smoky. One great trick is to pull the PTO switch up, or put the gear selector in L or H and turn the key to START for 8-10 seconds. That will fire the GP's and because of the safety interlocks the starter won't crank. After the 8-10 second delay push in the PTO switch or place the selector in neutral and she will fire right up.

I would expect the 2305 and 744 to mow about the same? Same engine and the 744 has the better choice of mowing speeds.

I use Power Service fuel conditioner in all my diesels and Stabil in the cast iron gas engine, Marine stabile in the aluminum gas motors and outboard.

My X744 has cruise control on it as well, my 2305 was not ordered with cruise, but I don't really use it that often. As for mowing, the X744 has a 48" deck and the 2305 has a 62" deck. I bought the X744 with the 48" deck as a few properties I maintain has a lot of obsticals to manuver around and AWS is perfect for that... plus some of the lawns are only big enough for a 48" deck. Now your right, if my X744 had a 62" deck like the 2305, they would be about the same as how many acres an hr they could cut.

I really like them both and each have there advantages/disadvantages between them both, but I will be running both of them. I am kind of partical to AWS and in fact looked for a used X749 4X4 before I bought the 2305, but when I bought the 2305 private, I saved some big $$ and went that route instead. We will see how the 2305 preforms cutting grass this spring, if needed it can stay on the Snowblower and I will run the X744 but I think she will do well.

I Really Do love the Tilt steering wheel on the X744, very comfortable as well as the rear work lights... I have 1 rear work light on the 2305, but wished it had lights simular to the rear on the X700's.... might add a 2nd rear work light to the 2305, but we will see.

Again I am partical to both the X700's/2305's.
