Buying Advice Overall best tractor?

   / Overall best tractor? #41
I am brand new here, but would like to know what you all would recommend for price and reliability and parts? I am looking for a 40 HP 4X4.

The one that runs without a lot of down time. I have seen name brand have just as many issues as gray models.

With out a doubt and I think I will have 100% agreement on this forum. It is the one that we all bought. That would usually mean that it is the one that fits our purpose. I dont think you would go wrong with any brand especially since many of them are made by the same company. Almost all if not all the major brands are made in Korea, Japan or India. A few may have been assembled here from foreign parts, but they are basically all the same. All brands have occassional lemons just like Ford , Chevy etc. Pick the color you like and the dealer you like that gives you the best deal. Quality wise, they are all pretty good. Personally I would stay away from the Chinese made ones although you will also find folks here that swear by them. These are the Foton, Jinma brand that come to mind but may be a few more.
In case you are interested, my choice was a new LS brand which gave me the best deal for the money with the most standard features. They are up and coming and my prediction is that they are going to give ALL the other brands a real race for the number 1 spot especially if they continue to keep their prices low.

This is a little like which is better, Ford or Chevy? We all know it's Ford, but try telling that to a Chevy guy.

BethesdaEC ; must be comparing the two crappier models because I noticed Dodge wasn't included on you comparison, cause we all know it would take a ford and chevy together to out work a dodge :D

Hard to tell about Dodge anymore as they no longer even put their name on their trucks; not knocking anyone's truck, just an observation. I don't like to walk, so I don't own any of them anymore.

I'll pop in from the other side!

How long do you feel you will own your new tractor? It could be hard in ten or twenty years to know where to go for parts and some type of service.

Figure out what you will be doing the most with it and build around that with options and the base tractor set-up.

A good local dealer will help.
One of the things I've found out, they don't break unless you need them so reliability does help. Some people do enjoy the added shop time that they get with their tractor ownership.

We've sold approximately 17 brands to date under one color or other and name. I could say we sell three brands right now, or five excuse me six!!

It does get confusing for shoppers when trying to figure out who really built their tractor and who is assembling it in Georgia! These companies do have divorces and it does change parts and service when this happens.

You might be the guy I am looking for. What brands are you selling at this time? You certainly have the experience with many, what do you like best.

Interesting, because my previous expierience was my tractor only needed fluid and filter. So I have not worried much. Also, my old Farmall, I got parts, from Case/IH, for a 1942 Farmall...

The Kubota was an '85. I had it from '98-10. I needed one part, a front driveshaft u-joint. Otherwise filters and fluids that were easily available at the dealer, at independant shops, and NAPA.

From my Farmall expierience, I have wondered, will anyone be restoring old Kubota's and New Hollands 60 years from now? Will parts be available like the 1930-50 JD/AC/Ford/IH are now?

I'll pop in from the other side!
