I meant no disrespect to those that choose to use feeders to bring deer withing sight of their blinds. Like I said, I know it is almost the only way you have a chance of taking a deer on a small piece of land. Personally, I don't think I'd enjoy shooting something that is trained to present itself like that, but that's just me.

So is it BSE that affects the feral hog? I possibly would take a hog if the opportunity presented itself. They are overpopulating lots of areas and man can they do some damage.

OBTW, to keep the thread on subject, I'd drag the hog with my B7300. ;);)

That is why I call it, "Bait and Wait"!!!

Is that why so many people partake in the drinking of choice beverages during hunting season? nothing else to do but wait?

Since I never hunted deer, I don't know....

Wait for it....

Wait for it...........

Wait for it.....................

Ok-- I was only being sarcastic........

I believe it is a pretty steep fine to be drinking while hunting. I would never do it but to each his own I guess. I did dip Copenhagen like it was going out of style while standing in a tree stand. I would easily go through a can and a half in a full day of hunting. I'm glad i quit that stuff, I was going broke.

I know I'm going to regret this...

I don't hunt, but I used to do a lot of spearfishing. I'm not against the blood sports, by any means, but some of the "sportsmen", that's another deal.

I've got about 150 acres in the dead center of nowhere where we grow trees and one of the local tribes works on fish habitat. Not long after I bought it 20 years ago someone tore down the gate during hunting season. While the gate was open!

I put in a serious gate of the kind the timber companies use. Someone took a torch to the posts, hooked up a truck to snap the concrete in the posts, and dragged the whole $1500 mess a mile up the road.

I replaced the gate and added a sign that said "if you respect the land, I'll open the gate during hunting season." You guessed it: the sign and the gate were destroyed that season.

As soon as the tribe finishes their habitat work, I'm going to just decommission the road. I'll be bleeped if I'm going to let anonymous vandals run my property for me.

I know nobody reading this would commit that kind of vandalism, and I also know there's not really any way to stop the d-bags.

It doesn't take many like that to ruin things for the landowners _and_ the responsible hunters.

There. I feel better. A little.

Z.

You need to buy some Game cameras. They are gonna be about 100 each, but well worth it if you find out who is doing the damage.

If you are on the tractor and a deer comes by this weekend make sure you are not in line with the rifle and the deer. Don't want to see you get shot by being in the line of fire since your tractor attracts deer! Good thing it is Kubota Orange! Another benefit of not driving JD green! Might blend in with the trees and grass. Philip

Exactly what I was going to post. Good thing I read further and found your post. I won't waste my time now. :D

Only once have I had a wobbler go right by my head...By wobbler I mean a rifle bullet that had been fired from some distance and by the time it got so close to my head I could hear it wobbling in the air..very scary stuff. I was bush hogging on my farm durring deer season and got off the tractor to close the gate behind me and when I got back on the tractor and was just getting ready to shift into gear ....here came the wobbler bullet...No I could not see it but I sure heard it and the whipping sound it made soooo very close to my head..it gave me chills up my neck and to this day anytime I think about it ..it gives me chills how close it was ...so be aware...the shot could have been fired from a great distance away and the shooter had no idea I was even there...Be careful durring deer season...
