I just scored a used B4672 backhoe which I mounted on my B7610 today. Things went pretty well but I've got a couple of questions/problems.

First, there is a pipe weldment on the rear of the bottom of the backhoe frame (towards the tractor) that, at the moment, doesn't appear to be doing anything. I'm guessing that it's supposed to be adjusted in order to make contact with the bottom of the two lower tractor 3-pt arms in order to brace or strengthen the attachment. Right now there is about a 2 inch gap between the weldment and the bottom of the 3-pt arms. Am I right about this?

Second, the top link of the backhoe is supposed to attach to the tractor with two hardened 3/4" pins. The upper hole in the bar that is part of the backhoe is a circular hole, while the lower hole is more of a slot. My problem is that when I get the pin in the upper circular hole, I can't get the pin to go in the lower slotted hole. There is just enough offset in the holes so that the pin won't slide in. Is there a trick to getting both of these pins in the holes? Installing the pins is further complicated by the fact that there is little or no room to drive the pins through the holes with a hammer.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hook the toplink slot with the lower pin first, then use the backhoe hydraulics (raise/lower boom or extend/retract dipper or curl/uncurl bucket and/or stabilizers) to get the second (top) hole to line up so you put the pin in it.

Top hole requires a bushing in BH arm before installing the pin. Hope you are using a heavy duty top-link bracket.
Use the procedure explained above.

First, the lower pipe section of the backhoe frame on mine just about touches the bottom of the 3 pt. arms. Maybe you aren't using the correct holes for connecting the ends of the 3 pt. arms to the backhoe frame. From what I remember, there are three different holes and I think I usually use the middle holes. 2" away sounds like too much.

For the top link, you need to install the lower pin in the bracket hole on the tractor before lining up and mounting the hoe. I just keep mine in there all the time since I use the top hole when mounting 3 pt equipment anyway. Then you should lower the slotted bar onto the lower pin and put the upper pin into the hole. It should go right in as long as the 3 pt hitch lift arms on the tractor aren't in the way.

the pipe on the bottom should be adjusted to fit as close as possible to your lower hitch arms
