Would the dealer be the best place to get an operators manual or should I buy it online somewhere?

Is that a legal copy on pdf? i.e. produced by Deere?
You know, I don't have or use a single piece of illegal software but I have no trouble with these PDFs. Deere makes money on the parts. They should distribute the tech manual so you can find and use those parts for free. I'm a big fan of companies that do that. Its the only real knock I have against them.
Its like an "I won't use your tech services" or an "I buy used" tax.
Same PDF you'll get from Deere. I bought a set of six CDs with like 50 manuals for $30.
The first two that come to mind are Tanaka and Zama. I just bought a Tanaka Trimmer because of the parts and tech guides. And Zama tells you everything you could ever hope to know about their carburetors. I've run into others too and I hope it keeps expanding.I don't know of any OEM that gives away workshop/technical/service manual's for free.
Oh yeah, its a HUGE feather in Deere's cap.Plus they give you JDParts for free
742How many pages does that 4200 - 4400 tech manual have in it?

Interesting...the official Deere manual for the 4200 - 4400 has 694 pages.
arabil. you were correct. It was the part that you indicated. They replaced the gasket.

Which revision date is your manual?
Yeah, which one do you have? Mine is TM1677 Apr01. Also, if we're comparing PDF to the physical book, they'll be different because PDF counts every page including the covers.the official Deere manual for the 4200 - 4400 has 694 pages.
