To Slime or not to slime?

I took a nail today in a lug and the repair went well. When I refilled the tire with air, I noticed a leak at the valve stem. To my dismay it's not the insert but the seal at the rim that has failed.
Here is a brief video of my project underway.

I really can't afford down time I need to excavate in the morning and I had to go to work at noon today so no time for a trip to the tire shop. I am considering something that I thought I would never do, slime my rim. In one respect it may save me another repair in the near future. My yard is quite a mess.
Any thoughts or experiences are welcome.

Wow Tig you seem a bit busy. Now can you do that the other way around?

As for the slime. I suspect that the tractor I bought has slime in one of the front tires. I stopped at a shop and asked them if they think it is a problem and the guy said it should not be. More like you really should tell them that there is slime in the tire if they are going to work on it so when they break the beed it will not blow that stuff all over them. I know of and was told of no ill effect.

Thanks for the feedback guys. After reading the details on the Slime site I don't think it will do what I need. They come right out and say it's not for valve leaks. Makes sense since it will mainly pool on back of the tread.
easygo, I figure I'll have the footing dusted off after 5 days work. So next week we'll just redo in reverse. That's my fireplace in the foreground. I saved the pieces.

I have used Fix A Flat in both my front tires. I put a plug in the tire where the nail hole was then added a can of Fix A Flat and filled with air to the recommended pressure. It does seal minor leaks in the tread and rim leaks and is easy to clean up should you need to dismount the tire.
I have not tried Slime but know a few who have and they say its messy to clean up if you dismount the tire.
For a valve leak you probably need to replace the valve.

Just be aware that some (maybe not all) "flat stop" products eat rims! My JD 420 had a "hydro-seal" product in the front tires when I bought it, one rim was in bad shape, including a hole eat through it! Cleaned the rim, epoxied the hole & tubed the tire. ~~ grnspot110

Wouldn't be as concerned with Slime as with the "pressurized fix-a-flat products", some of them used to use butane as a pressure source, not sure if they still do. Very dangerous stuff!!!! ~~ grnspot110

The guy said that they don't let it do down to complete 0 psi just to save some time. It would serve them as a waring to let all the air out of that tire.

How long do you think that flat fixer product was in there? It sure seems to have done a number on that rim.

Is that an addition to your home you are rebuilding? By the looks of it from the ground up.
