This is just a rant on my back / leg pain to see if anyone else has had similar event with pain down the FRONT of your leg? Tis a bumber. :(

I started having back pains about two weeks ago....and they have gotton progressivly worse.....to the point I cannot do much but sit and compute now. Grrrrrr I was seeing the chiro without much improvement and then it took a turn for the worse on Wed.....when I took some friends out for a boat ride...which put me over the top. Basically out of commission as the pain grows to be too great with any use of my legs. I got some meds (cordizone) prescribed by the Dr and will get in to see him on Tue.

Now I have this pain emanating from the small of my back and down the FRONT of my leg that is just debilitating. From what I have read online....the sciatic nerve is down the back of you thigh. Anybody know a term for the front of the thigh?...or have a similar experience?

This is gonna interfere with any tractoring for a while.....as any bending-down or reaching is a no-no......I cant even put my own pants on. (not funny) :confused2:

Sounds suspicious for pathology in the lumbar vertebra between L1 and L3, probably a "buldging disk".

The bones of your spine are all labeled according to their location. Your low back-the lumbar spine-consists of five bones (L1-L5). The nerves associated with L1, L2 and L3 make their way down and around the front of the thigh.

Initial treatments generally include rest, pain medication, muscle relaxers, and possibly steroids (which is what it appears you were given). This is usually followed up with physical therapy if you're not imporving nicely. If PT still doesn't help, you keep moving up the ladder to more invasive treatments (i.e. steroid injections, and finally, a surgical consult). Hopefully, you'll improve long before it comes that!

No fun. Years back, I twisted on of my lumbars (L-3 if I remember correctly) by 18 degrees. Took me nearly two hours to get out of bed and crawl to the bathroom to use the facilities the next morning. After that, I was at the doctors as fast as I could go... which wasn't very fast.

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like the disc diagnosis is pretty accurate. I'll be at the Dr tommorow.....and were just gonnna have to take it from there. Funny how a "small" pain in your back can make such a HUGE pain in your thigh / leg.

I guess the Vikings will have to take me outta their linep-up....and I will just sit-it-out with Brett.;)

Had a very similar pain.
2nd chiro helped alot. Finally bought a tilt bed.
Didn't do that complete upside down thing but enought
to stretch the back a bit.
2 times a day, 5 min. for 2 weeks and no more pain.
No more chiro with periodic use. No more pain.
Evidently my condition was greatly improved using the contraption and the #2 chiro's treatments.

Hope you get better soon. However, if you can set, you can TBN :D I seriously have a pinched sciatic nerve in my lower back and yesterday I rode 10 hours for our Pastors Ordination service at his home Church. Needless to say, last night was not a good night for my left hip left knee and left ankle, Tylenol 3 helps some and PT helps some. Ken Sweet

Get better soon Foggy and don't try to exert yourself....these back problems take time so be patient...

+1. Have to agree. Be patient and don't quit treatment until the doc says you're done.
