the problem with the camera idea is that the dirt road is a mile long, so the places they've dumped trash always changes. it's never in the same spot, they just seem to drive through, dump the trash on the edge of my land and drive off. it's very easy to get away with it because this crime doesn't take but 30 seconds to commit and there's no one around to catch you. what i have done is when i've seen a truck go by my house with junk or trash in the bed, i've always followed them if i was outside and happened to see them.

How about one camera at one end of the road and one camera at the other end. You might get a shot of a loaded vehicle entering the road and another shot of that same vehicle exiting empty. You might also notice an unusual amount of time a vehicle has spent on the roadway. Just a thought.
I hate the pigs that do these types of things. It would be nice to identify the vehicle and take all the garbage and dump it at their place.
People are pigs......oops wrong thread:)

That would be my idea as well.

My wifes family farm, where I live, butts up to another farm and this guy has cows. I've come to understand from this forum that cow's and litter don't mix well because the cows will try to eat things laying on the ground?

Regardless... I personally witnessed our neighbor tossing some trash and beer cans (2) out his window (to his defense, it was not a bag of trash, but a handful) onto the main road which also has his cows on one side of it.

It infuriated me. Several weeks later, he was on our road so I flagged him down. I basically said that there are people out here who do not appreciate him tossing his trash out his vehicle window. After all, it was our 'neighborhood' as well.

His response?

1. What (the ***k is your name?)
2. Where (the ***k do you live?)
3. How much land do YOU own?

"Well, "I" (Mr. Important) own 300 acres... so don't ***k with me boy"

Then he drove off.

Being rather mild manored, I must say for perhaps the 3rd time in my 50 years, I honestly wanted to pull someone out of their vehicle and beat the tar out of them.

What gets me is, it's HIS neighborhood and HIS cow's that I'm also trying to keep in good condition.

idiot.

For those of you old enough to remember (and not so old that you can't remember), this is a clear-cut case for Officer Obie from Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant." :)

The road may be a mile long, but there still has to be a start point to were they enter your property.... Even if you caught every car plate that went by in the past week, you know what day(s) the trash showed up on so by useing the time stamps you can narrow down which cars/trucks were in the area the day the trash was dumped.

. i've written numerous times to them, and even offered to buy the road from them to no avail.

Why wont the county sell the road to you? That seems to be the root problem because you aren't going to stop people from dumping as long as it's a public road. All you are going to do is stress yourself into a heart attack over something you can't control. In the mean time I'd just push the trash off your property onto the shoulder of the road. If the county wants to own the road then let them clean it up.

I had the same problem years ago. Found a name on a pill bottle, made a nice quiet phone call and suggested they come pick up their garbage before I returned it to them. I guess I made an impression on them, it was gone the next day.

It won't work with everybody, unfortunately.

Many years ago the company I worked for had a dumpster that someone loaded with their house trash. I went through it and found their address. Put it all in the company van and dumped it in their driveway. Ya, I was somewhat Pi&*ed :mad::mad: off. Never heard any feed back. Ha Ha.

Similar story. My parents owned a restaurant when i was growing up, we had a dumpster, clearly labeled not for public use. Occasionally though people would fill up our dumpster and we would have to call the trash company and pay extra for unscheduled trash removal service. One time when this happened we went through the trash, all the identifying information had been painstakingly removed however there were a couple of labels where we could make out the name of a nearby street . Contained in the trash also were several amateur radio morse code cards.

So, we loaded up the trash and drove up and down the street and found that there was exactly one home on the street with a ham radio antenna. We dumped the trash in their front yard. As a finishing touch my father, who had been a radio operator in the war, left the people a note written in morse code asking them to please refrain from using our dumpster in the future. Never heard a word or had a problem after that.
