I'm sure granddaughter is referring the the Disney movie "The Little Mermaid". Haven't seen the movie since it came out, but I think that is what Ariel calls a fork.

Correct. Actually, Ariel calls it a "dinglehopper", but my granddaughter (5) says "dinglehoffer".
