Gotta give you an atta boy for standing your ground on the farm animal issue.
Apparently you've been involved in planning and zoning or city government somehow.
Our P&Z is struggling to handle the challenges of growth with the tools of a tiny town. You pegged it right on. The volunteer P&Z gets the blame when things go wrong, and the elected city officials get the credit when things go right. I did win a small battle the other night when one of the commissioners threatened to write farm animals out of the zoning for where I live. I did some very passionate arguing and convinced the quorum otherwise.
Not involved in P&Z or city government. I'm a contractor so I've seen the handiwork of some of the P&Z departments. An area town doesn't like all the new houses being earth tones so they're trying to pass an ordinance saying you can't have a SIMILAR color within three houses! The town next to it tried to tell a business owner he couldn't paint his building yellow. Two other business owners on the same block hurried up and painted their buildings yellow in protest of the village flexing its muscle.
The P&Z departments have done a poor job of planning. They usually are reacting to something that's already happened rather than planning ahead. Plus they get bogged down with nonsense like what color a house or business should be. They should let the market place determine that.
