Kubota L3130F-HST
In almost 4 years I've accumulated over 550 hours on my L3130, with about 20% of those hours spent on the 72" MMM. With the MMM waiting for a part this week, I went ahead with buying a ZD323 which will keep the hours down on the L3130 and let me retire the Sears garden tractor which had "yard duty". My wife is happy as she can mow any time as the mower deck is always mounted. I'm now a two Kubota family.

I made the mistake of going by the dealer the other day with my wife and I imagine this time next year, I will be a 2 Kubota family too with the addition of a F3080 or F3680.

may i hazard a guess? 1). the quality of cut is "better," on the kubota zd over the sears garden tractor . . . 2). there is no way to to link a two kubota families, either - medically, psychologically, or paranormally or any which way to lb59 ism.
congrats, shrekbelly

Needed help with this problem a few years ago, they multiplied into four and not one of them wants to leave.

I have a F2680 and I LIKE IT!! Also like my other 2 but the F brings a smile. I bought the rear discharge deck and it lays the grass down fairly flat instead of rows but it also blows all over the battery and around the "machine" air intake vents. Still prefer rear discharge over side discharge since I can use either side for close cutting and I also like it laying grass down flat instead of rows. Have to always remember you got a couple or 3 feet of "butt" behind you when you swing around, you'll know what I mean when you get it.

Actually your posts are why we started looking at the F Series. I am in the process of teaching my wife to operate a CX80 with a 10'6" rotary cutter and FEL, so by the time we get the Kubota, she will become aware of the need to watch her back. I know we are going to love it.

What did you ever decide about the F3080 or F3680 and what's your take between the 2 of them difference wise other than HP? Why one over the other?

Sadly, like you I am a recovering government employee and we had to choose between an F Series and a Grand L. We would love an F Series, but it may be like the elusive B Series.

I was just thinking that if i had a 4wd F I could eliminate a tractor but I'd have to transport them more often between the 2 sites. My 26HP has plenty of power so I was just wondering what would encourage someone to go for the 36HP over the 30HP except for the "more power" mentality.

Due to the nature of our terrain, we pretty much need a 4WD, but probably would go with the 30HP if everything else was equal.

We had to put $3000 of tires on our CX80 this year, running it between farms is hard on Ag tires; maybe even R4's. We use to haul a mower between farms, but a couple of years ago bought a JD2305 to leave at another farm and BX2660 for where I live. This spring we bought the Grand L to keep the Case off the road, our MF is at a firing range where my sons are instructors and gets shuffled around. My Case has a broken door, bent rim and no AC, so I have been shuffling my 5030 back and forth.

At the farm where my brothers live we have three Ford, one NAA and two 600 Series, a Case backhoe and a 40 Case 2WD.

I have tried to "cut back", but don't see it happening due to the transport and time issues. Hope you can make it work for you.

Six here and they'd better not leave!

(3 Kubota tractors, a ZD and a min ex and a TLB, plus a JD skid steer)

Please don't cry about that here. I get $700 /month for 36 years of service as a salaried supervisor, and pay just under 1K /month for health insurance while supporting you. I would like to be so sad, at a potentially young retirement age. Just be thankful that so many folks thought enough of you to pay you more, and give you more benefits than they received. Don't mean to be off track, but that comment was too.

If you don't need the extra 20% power, it is just more fuel usage running the larger engine, but using less power.

How much was withheld from each of your paychecks to fund your $700 a month retirement check? Seems there is some confusion there. I paid my retirement out of my checks each pay period and my employer the state contributed some also. This money from my paycheck and my employers contribution were placed into a (not government funded) managed care retirement program to be given back at the time of retirement at a figure based on contributions as are most retirement programs. I know you weren't talking about me but I am in the same situation and no one is contributing to my retirement income beside those that are participating in it. Just as almost all retirement programs, government and private. I guess I'm paying your $700 a month retirement check from my taxes and I don't like it one bit. You are off track and so is your comment.

Good grief, where the heck did that come from? I couldn't pay attention on my "government retirement", it was meant as a joke.

My income is derived from several sources just like John's. I keep a truck for a minimum of ten years, as does my wife. At one time my transportation consisted of a VW cobbled together by my brother from three different vehicles. My wife got her first and only new car at the age of 58 and will probably keep it the rest of her life. We never could afford a vacation where we didn't stay with relatives.

We worked and saved our whole lives so we could have a decent retirement and I am going to do my best.

You should be ashamed of yourself for your rant about something taken entirely out of context.

I hope you both understand very clearly that I never said, or thought that you didn't work very hard for the things you have, and were able to provide for your families. I said please don't complain about working for the government to those that contributed to your salaries, and benefits. I am very sorry to have offended you both, and am totaly ashamed of my rant as I should be.
