A took a workshop titled "Non-lumber Forest Products" essentially it dealt with all kinds of products other than lumber that can be brought out of the forest and sold.

The instructor was selling decorative bundles of white birch with a ribbon to all the high-end apartments and condo buildings in our Capital city. They have electric and gas fireplaces but people like to have a pile of logs beside them for Christmas decor.

He was averaging around $1200 per cord based on the volume and he had repeat customers each year as they would toss out the bundle after Christmas...

Well, there you go. Sometimes it's easy to forget how big and diverse the world is. $1200/cord is good

I heard of a guy here in SC that was selling huge amounts of large pine cones to somewhere in Asia. Apparently they don't have them and want them for decoration or crafts or something, not sure.
I looked on ebay once and realized I have ignored lots of money laying on the ground at my place over the years...pine cones, big ones, were selling for several dollars each;)

Simply amazing that such a product --at that price-- even exists.

Just imagine, somewhere out there is the wife of an AIG bank CEO who's just orderd a cord of these logs to burn in her upstairs fireplace. And, she charged it to the bank's maintenance budget...

Here i am 'sustainably harvesting' a 'fully assembled' dinner table that seats six. It is for sale. The price? $1,200.00, plus shipping.

There are people out there that would pay more for that "dinner table" than they'd pay for that sweet boom pole setup you have on your FEL.

Yeah, i had a used skidsteer QA plate hanging around. The three 2x2 hitch tubes i bought, but the rest of the steel was leftover from other projects. Something i whipped together in a weekend. It's so much handier than lifting stuff with my bucket hooks..... plus i use it to move my trailer around the yard. I bought an 8 foot piece of 2x2 tubing to make a couple different attachments for it, like a 4' extension so i can reach into my truck or trailer to pick stuff........ just haven't got around to it yet.
