Kubota L3240
I have a Kubota L3240 HST tractor with LA724 FEL that I am looking to put a backhoe attachment on. I have seen several self contained 3 point backhoe attachments on ebay in the $3200 price range.
Does the L3240 tractor require bracing up the top link bracket or is it ok to attach the backhoe directly like it is?
Does Kubota make something like this or would it have to be fabricated?
I would be using it to dig stumps on my property and am guessing that would put quite a bit of pressure on that top link bracket.

Thanks, Mike

3PT backhoes are notorious for doing damage to compact utility tractors. You really want a subframe mount backhoe if you are going to be doing things like diggings stumps. 3PT hitches are simply not designed to withstand that sort of abuse.

Check with your dealer but there should be a heavy duty top link bracket kit for that model. I now that there is/was one for the L3130 which is the comparable model.

Well, Mike, you have what I think is the finest 30-35hp compact tractor
made, and I am sure you have a lot of money invested in it.

If you ask Kubota about your plan, they will tell you that you should use
their BH90 with their 4-pt subframe. If you use an aftermarket hoe on
your 3-pt hitch, you will void your warranty. They do make an exception
for the Kubota 4690 hoe, which uses a stiffened 3-pt hitch setup.

You can spend days reading all that's on TBN about this subject. I
recommend against any 3-pt hoe....get a subframe hoe.

Oh yeah, stump removal puts more stress on a tractor than any other
legitimate activity, IMO.

Thanks Guys
I am going to look into one of the subframe mounted backhoes.

Check out Kubota, Woods, and Bradco for starters. They all produce excellent backhoes and appropriate subframe mounts for CUTs. I doubt their subframe models are much more expensive than their 3PT models but those may be quite a bit more than some off brand old technology cheapy made 3pt BH. I'd imagine you'll find prices around 7K for a seven ft BH and a bit more for an eight footer. Either will dig out stumps so if you need to save money put it into a good 7ft model rather than a cheapo 8footer.

From what I've read on this forum, Woods makes a great backhoe for Kubotas and has subframes for proper fit. I've looked on Ebay also, and when I was looking, found that Rosseel's Farm Supply had the best prices I've seen. I went to their website, and under miscellaneous, construction equipment, it took me the site below. Definitely get a good unit with a subframe connector, or very bad things can happen.

Kioti backhoes are Korean made and are of excellent quality. However, unless there is a big company importing them (like Kioti) I'd be a little concerned about parts availability in the future. Having said that, there are few proptietary parts on backhoes and you'd probably be able to get hoses, cylinders, bushings, valves etc in the aftermarket that would work fine. It might be more of an adventure though than owning a Woods or Bradco or Rhino etc.

For what it's worth, I Had a three point hitch hoe, on my Bota DT 3000. It was ok. I have moved up to a L4400 with a BH90subframe hoe, this is better. However, if I had to do it all over again, I would have gone with a Woods BH90x. More power, and a factory thumb. As far as stumps go, These little hoes, are not going to dig out any monster oak,Maple etc stumps, very easily. I will keep my current rig, but I think a full sized hoe, is next. BTW if your doing land clearing get a Grapple.
