Well, I finally bit the bullet and bought a dealer demo Kubota T1880 42" riding mower. :) I was debating between riding mower and zero turn, but this deal seemed good. The dealer had used it around his cottage this summer and wanted to clear it out of their way before winter. So, my first use won't be until next spring. In the meantime, it's being used as an anchor to help hold down my portable shelter over this windy winter! :D:D

Looks like a nice ride and I am sure you will enjoy doing that lawn mowing task next spring........... As for using it to tie down that shelter, I would be a bit worried that the shelter could take off in a big wind and take your new toy with it....LOL

Well, the mower is my "insurance factor" on holding down the shelter. It's also staked 3' into the ground at all 4 corners plus there's 2 100-lb buckets of cement at the mid-point with a rope over the top of the shelter. We've had some mighty winds here in the past month and it hasn't budged so this additional 800 lbs should about do it:D......

Well, you didn't say all of that before.....I agree it would take one heck of a wind to move it now. House might go first! Nice looking mower and I know you will enjoy it come spring.........summer

I seriously doubt that. Keep hanging around TBN and you'll talk yourself into buying a snowblower attachment or a blade. If not that, you'll find some reason to get it out and drive it around before spring.

Nice mower, Ian. I just bought a used G1800 diesel that someone disabled all the safety circuits on and then found out the starter will not operate. Their solution was two wires you put together to get it to start. It does start and runs fine. The deck is a beast and has a beautiful cut even with dull blades. It's going to be my winter project and I also have a John Deere LA145 for most mowing chores. I just ordered and received operator and service manuals plus all the filters from Messicks.com. I was going to let my 18 yr old grandson help me do service on it this weekend, but he was called into work and could not come over. I think Kubota makes great lawn tractors from what I've seen with mine.

Thanks Jim. I didn't think I'd go wrong with the Kubota mower! The dealer used it at his cottage for the summer. Normal price new here was $3299, they sold it to me for $2500, which I was happy with. I only have an acre of grass to cut so it'll do fine, I'm sure. Good luck with your winter repair project! :)
