Well, the used 2520 I was looking at was sold out from under me, and - after some lengthly soul-searching an web-surfing (especially here on TBN) - I finally decided on a BRAND SPANKIN' NEW 2520.....I just got home from my local JD dealer where I put a deposit on a 2520, 200cx w/61" and 46 BH w/16" ....I am very, very excited (with the occasion bout of buyers remorse)!! :D

So, now the wait for confirmation of when everything will be delivered - dealer estimates 2.5 weeks...ANTICIPATION!!

QUESTION: I am contemplating having the rear wheels filled (I have a pretty hilly property)...dealer has quoted me $300 for both tires w/Calcium Chloride to include the tubes - any thoughts, suggestions or concerns on this?

Congratulations!!! Wow, how great is that?

Calcium Chloride? Naw, don't put that stuff in there. Sorry to be so blunt. Ask a hundred guys and get a hundred opinions, but I'd put beet juice if I was going to do anything.

BTW, we will want pix! :D:D

I would suggest that you try to get some version of Rim Guard, or windshield washer fluid, etc. to load the tires with. I've seen far too many used tractors with rusted rims from the CC.

Yes, yes - pictures are a must, I understand ;)

Thanks for the quick feedback on the CC....

I used RV antifreeze that goes in the water pipes from autozone. Want hurt the environment and its 2.50 a gallon. Used about 6 gallons per rear tire.

Congrats. I'll suggest that you look into getting RimGuard as well, it can't be beat for a tire ballast. Calcium chloride, even in tubes, is just too damaging to be run in a tire for ballast. We had CC in the rear tires on an IH 340, which caused noticeable damage to the wheels, but thankfully not enough to make them un-usable.

Good luck with your new machine.

as wh401 said rim guard may not be as heavy but is it less damaging and cheaper was helping a friend move brush and he drove forward and popped the valve off and out comes shooting calcium chloride asked him how much to fix and refill the tires he said 1000$ not sure if it really cost that much or not

Congratulations! I am looking for a similar set up, how much off list were you able to get?

Congrats on the new ride. I am sure as others have stated you will love it. I have all 4 on my 2320 with tubes and calcium in them as no one up here has ever heard of rimguard.

Rimguard, beet juice, RV antifreeze, Windshield fluid. All choices with less issues.

Take care of the new machine and enjoy.

Congratulations, Ed! I'll bet you're gonna love it.

My one suggestion is to be sure that it is delivered with the new style draft arms so you won't have to battle with the tire clearance issues some of us on here have known.

Can't wait to see the pics.

Best of luck with your purchase.

Thanks forfeed the back folks!

JDGREEN4ME - I was able to get 12% off of list...I could have gotten ~13-14% if I would have paid 100% cash. Evidently JD Credit "charges" the dealer when they provide any financing (I financed ~25% of the final price via the 0% for 4 years currently offered).
Thanks, Ed

Well, after several weeks of anxious waiting my new 2520 finally arrived on Friday safe & sound! Attached are pics of my new "gloat"...yes, the bucket is a bit dirty - I couldn't help getting a little work in once I started her up!! Since Friday i have also cleaned-up a HUGE manure pile, re-graded in front of our barn, spread some sand in a riding arena AND done some snow-plowing for our first real snowfall here in northeast PA (only ~4" to 5")....

Also, I decided against filling the rear tires for now....

Hi Ed,just did the same thing today:) I wanted the hoe too,but had to settle for the FEL and the 62D. I was told if you did the 0%, the dealer wasn't charged. We did the 0% for 36 on 22%. Did the salesperson ask you if you wanted the 36 or 48 mo. We were only offered the 36.

In August, I got about 10% off list and financed 100% of the tractor (2520). Got 0% for 42 months. I figure, why not use their money for free for 3.5 years.

Looking good, Ed! Congratulations.

Maybe I missed it, but what did you use to plow the snow with?
