My thoughts on the RTV 1100

I'll have to look up and see if I can find the original manufacturer of the RTV coast valve. Believe it or not, they opted to use eBay as their way of selling their product. The beware part of that is that now there are knock-offs being sold on eBay as well. I have had mine for maybe 2 years now? You may want to PM 'Coobie' on here. He purchased one from the original manufacturer on eBay after I told him how pleased with the absolute and total transformation there is when driving an RTV. He made sure to get one of the high quality original valves too. I mention him because he may be able to still look up his transaction on eBay where I can't since it has been so long ago for me.

I was sort of sweating bullets when Coobie told me that he was buying one based on my recommendation. I sure would have hated to have him spend his money on something, based on what I said, and not be happy with it. I'm pretty certain that he's just as pleased with the complete transformation of the driving experience. I will admit that I'm definitely not the guy who first 'discovered' this valve. I'd read on some other forums where people were posting positive feedback about the valve they purchased from this particular manufacturer and how they'd heard of guys toasting their hydro tranny by tinkering with the original valve and voiding their factory warranty. As I said, my dealer gave his complete blessing to me installing the valve while I was still under warranty. As he expected and told me, I have not had any issue at all and it has had the added bonus of making shifting much easier if you have to stop on a hill and change gears.

Good luck! I just came in from about an hours worth of a relaxing ride in our RTV1100 with my wife. She really wouldn't even drive it before. Now it's a non-issue and there is no learning curve to driving it.
Dargo, still happy with my (coast valve)and darned the luck I cannot find my paper work on the valve.I know I bought it off of e-bay.Good quality product IMHO.Since the coast valve was installed I have around 100 hours on my RTV 900 with no issues. My wife NEVER would drive our RTV before the install because the SOB would put her & the grandkids into the windshied, now with the valve installed its a total pleasure for her to drive.coobie

I bought the knock-off brand off of eBay and it works great. It was about $95 shipped. I assume it works as well as the original one and it was $30 cheaper I believe. I have no regrets.

The coast valve is not a good idea due the possibility of premature transmission wear. Plus, don't forget that all new RTV models have the VHT Plus transmission now, which makes the dynamic (HST) braking much easier on you and your passengers.

I would like to hear more about the premature wear also?

The problem with the VHT Plus transmission is that it isn't in the rest of the RTV's already sold:rolleyes:

I have ruled out the Gators as they only seat 2 and I want to be able to bring my daughter with me when I am with my girlfriend or father. The new XUVs do look nice though and if I didn't require a bench seat I would definitely look at them strongly.

If your not in a big hurry you might wait.. This spring there bring out the new units.. New motor, suspension, and bed... I've heard rumors of 4x4 cab, however I can't confirm this. However, I'm sure its just a mater of time because most of the competition has it..

My real issue is that, without the coast valve, I would have to pass on an RTV and go with another brand. My family members flat out wouldn't drive my RTV1100 without the coast valve where they love it with the valve. It would put me in a bad position if the coast valve is detrimental to the transmission. I'd pretty well be obligated to take my business elsewhere. The bad thing for Kubota is that I'm fairly certain that quite a few people bought other brands due to the transmission and several hundred, if not thousand, current RTV owners would have buyer's remorse if they can't use a coast valve.

Us buyers are fickle like that. I took my tractor business away from Kubota over a similar type issue and have to admit that I don't miss Kubota since I'm happy with my current tractor. I found it impossible to operate my Kubota tractor with the 'rocker pedal' unless I was driving across perfectly smooth ground. After several trips to my dealer I was told I'd just have to live with it because it was 'normal'. I immediately switched brands. I'd strongly suggest Kubota develops some sort of coast valve for all the RTVs in service now or risk the strong possibility of losing a lot of customers. If I had to give up my coast valve, I'd buy the first competing brand that comes to market with a full factory cab and then completely be away from Kubota.

The 2010 Gators will have a bench seat option. :D

I do not want a cab and will not pay extra for one as a cab would be a detriment for my use. I plan to use this in a vineyard and I do not want to have to try and open and squeeze out the door in the vineyard rows. This is one of the problems with my girlfriends RTV1100. We can't drive it up and down the rows taking samples because you can't get in and out of it with the doors. This is why they still have a small gator. They can use it for spot spraying weeds and all the other vineyard tasks. The only problem with their gator is that its a 2wd unit with turf tires and it gets stuck easily.
