A friend sent me an email with some pictures of Mule Deer bucks at a place in Utah where they make rocket fuel, and no hunting is allowed. That is what the email says, and I don't know anything else. Might be true, might not.

Of the five pictures, this one jumps out at me. This buck is just amazing. I'm wondering how wide he is, and curious what he'd score. Anybody got a clue? I'm thinking mid to high 40's wide, with 45 being what I'd say if I had to come up with a number. He's well over 200 points, but I'm not sure on this. I'm guessing 220 gross because of his width, but his front forks are a little weak and there's that deduction from the extra tine.

Your thoughts?

Eddie

That is almost jackelope territory with that buck's freakish looking rack and head.

That's one of the worst Photoshop jobs I've seen in a while. Look at the vertical lines near the antlers, they just cut the image and slid them over to make them look wide. The bushes on the right hand side antlers don't even match. Certainly fake but neat looking.

I blew up the area for clarity:

I am just too gullible, I was thinking like ScottOkla how freakish it looked and began to wonder about the rocket fuel :D

Dmace,

Thanks, I can see it now that you pointed it out, but add me to the list of those who fell for it. Too bad, it would have been nice to know a buck like that was out there having babies.

The rocket fuel plant is near Cedar City, UT. This is in the southwest part of the state. The plant moved from Las Vegas after it blew up in the '80s. It was known as Pepcon. You probably have seen the shockwave video before. I lost a couple of windows and a garage door as a result of the compression wave. I have hunted mulies all my life and have never seen racks shaped like these. Good eye, Dmace.

YOU'RE RIGHT !!!! I don't know how I missed it. I can't imagine why they faked the one on the left, when the one on the right is so much larger. LOL

Jim, those are not only real they're impressive! Is he yours?

Jay

No, that monster is at Fossil Rim Wildlife Park. The first time we saw him laying in the field, we thought he was a statue because he was laying so still. Also, they have a huge statue of a rhino there. Anyhow, we watched him for a long, long time and finally he moved. The first picture is actually taken at a later time (about 1 year) from the second. I don't know how he has a strong enough neck to hold up those horns.

Gordon, that is one odd-lookin' rack.

Eddie, those bucks are impressive, but that doe in the picture is one huge doe.;)
