In Florida it used to be that you would be in legal possession of a firearm in the cab of a vehicle outside hunting season if you were traveling to go camping, fishing, or to a target range.

Naturally, in our RV, we were ALWAYS on our way to go camping, fishing, or to a target range!! :D

Yikes!

So much for presumed innocent until proven guilty! :(

soundguy

That presumpton only applies when you get to court.:D Actually, there are certain circumstances under which the burden of proof shifts to the other side. And both police officers and prosecutors do usually have some discretion. Sometimes the discretion is on the part of individual officers or prosecutors; sometimes on the part of their department heads in establishing "policy". Even though it wasn't legal for them to carry handguns, and there was no formal written policy or rule, it was just understood within the department that we allowed business owners or employees carrying large sums of money to carry handguns. We also allowed women who had to be out at night to get to or from their job to carry weapons. Back then Texas Instruments had a very large crew of female employees who got off work at 1:00 a.m.

Back in the day when we was a "tamin" the west, the sign on the edge of town said "No firearms in the city limits"
Almost the same now,sorta,... You wouldn't want someone, say, like a football player, huhmmm.. to accidentally shoot himself would ya!!!

You obviously have not been to the greater Los Angeles area or Sacramento area in the summer.

If it were not for that smog equipment and special blend gas, you would not be able to see 1/4 mile or breath. Both basins just hold the smog. Worse, Sacramento smog is part Sacramento area caused, part blow in from the Bay area.

While I agree with the gun law statement, the smog and gas blend statement is off mark and misinformed.

I did prefer it when the smog requirements and testing were done on a county needs basis instead of a statewide moratorium.

While the emission standards may be crazy for your little corner of the country, they are pretty important out here. I still do not like them myself, but dang if we did not have them you could not breath in the summer.

I'm sure the smog does does not do anything to harm other parts of the country, it just do not have the impact that it does in the area's I mention.

I agree more states need more, if nothing just for newer state of the art, refineries. The environmetal groups will not let it happen. And lack of tax incentives will prevent it.

I have a friend who is a gun broker and sells guns all over the US. . . but california. He won't even sell the ones that are legal for sale there. when he gets a call, email or letter from someone wanting to buy a gun from CA he tells them to vote the bums out who make up their laws and reinstate the 2nd amendment and then he'll sell there:D i think the car companys sould do the same. if CA passes some new crazy emissions law Ford, Chevy Dodge and the rest of them should say NO! ! ! We just won't sell cars in CA. That would wake them up! ! It would also lower the price of the cars the rest of buys because they don't have to keep redesigning them every year. Same for the Gas companies, they make something like 8 different blends for different parts of the country, which makes it more costly (down time changing the formula) Just make one type of gas, if its not good for your state tough! ! make your own refinery. I truly beleave that if these companies woud do this it would solve a lot of problems.

Well, since this is a ramble about guns, ammo, laws, etc... let me tell you how it once was in Texas... in 1825 to be specific.

Mexico City was where the national government was and the town council was the local government, made up of elected stalwart citizens.

I will now paraphrase from the minutes of the Goliad Town Council (translated from the original handwritten Spanish minutes by my father):

Comanches are looting and killing in these parts, we gotta do something to protect our citizens. I know, we'll pass a law... how about this?

"Citizens are required to carry a gun when they leave the city for protection from the marauding Comanches. Violators will be fined."

In other words... take your pick: carry your gun, be unarmed when attacked by Comanches or fined your local government, take your pick.

Idiotic laws have been around for a long time:D

Not much to choose from huh??

Interesting historical fact, thanks John.
Fact is as stated above, allot of Texas settlers died from being unarmed, under armed or ill prepared. I suppose then ,as now, some think a "law" is the way to deal with something they cant deal with??

On the news tonight, they where talking about some Cali official who wants to ban the sale of large HD tv's that use to much energy and another who wants to legislate every ones roof and the roads painted White???.watch out California sounds like it's on agian...

I used to own a company that manufactured firearm accessories. The California proposition about lead came about during this time....and it was required to put warnings on my packaging. etc. I decided to not sell to California. HOWEVER....this is illegal too....you cannot do that.....according to law, excluding sales to California by a manufacturer will get you into more trouble. You just cant win. I despise many of the California ways.

Nah, it is someone from Los Angeles area... You guys complain about California; most of the poor regulation is coming from San Francisco and Los Angeles legislators.

The Energy Star televisions and other items will be affected by other sources more than California(read San Francisco and Los Angeles) regulation. The US-EPA, the EU, and Korea are pushing major Energy Star power level reductions. The EPA had tight regulations for PC power levels; the EU and Korea surpassed them for PC's and many other items.

They're looking for less than a watt of power for a PC in Standby(Remember, your PC never really turns OFF; it goes to standby. Only to turn it off is the main switch for the powersupply, IF it has one).

WalMart announce a while back, that they will start to phase out PC's, and some other appliances, if they do not meet Energy Starpower specs. Not California, Not Los Angeles, Not EPA; WalMart...

Note also, WalMArt is doing trials at a number of stores around the country; they will not give you bags for you purchase. You either need to bring you own bags(preferably reusable), or buy their reusable bags. They want to get rid off all the plastic bags that wind up in the landfill.

On the news tonight, they where talking about some Cali official who wants to ban the sale of large HD tv's that use to much energy and another who wants to legislate every ones roof and the roads painted White???.watch out California sounds like it's on agian...
