I stocked my 1-acre tank with 200 channel cat, 50 bass, 1000 or so coppernose bluegill and redear, and ten pounds of flathead minnows. This was what was recommended to me. At the time I had to make a decision as to whether to stock the channel cat due to the likelihood that the bass would eat the young catfish. I was told not to worry about it because channel cat don't reproduce in small impoundments under several acres anyway.
The remaining catfish (that we haven't eaten) are now in the 10 pound range, and we have never caught a young one, so it is apparent that either they haven't reproduced or the bass are eating them. Have never seen the blob of little catfish like you see in a lake where they are reproducing.
