Grading help me decide on box blade for BX25... tired of researching

I've read a lot on this forum about box blade/scraper for the BX. I am trying to find a 4' BB and prices where I live are very high compared to what I've read on this forum.

I would gladly take the 4' BB available from tractor supply company that is going for $425, but we don't have a TSC company in my area and the EXACT same BB goes at our local farm & tractor dealers for $599.

the cheapest I can find a decent BB is $524. as near as I can tell it's identical to the TSC version except for color.

all the Woods, Landpride, Frontier, or any other name brand go for +$700.

however, the local feed store has a really nice looking professional grade King Kutter for $599. this is their heavy duty model, much beefier than anything else I have seen. The King kutter site states it weighs 350lb, it's model BB-G-48 .

I am leaning towards the heavy duty King Kutter at $599 since it seems like the best value for what is available, otherwise the lighter one at $524. Should I be concerned about the 350lb weight and just go with the lighter version?

For your tractor the 350 lb weight would be no problem at all! The only decision you need to make is------- the King Kutter or another top of the line blade. I'm not going to say anything bad about KK blades but usually when I'm going to purchase any three point implements my thoughts are buy the best that you can afford and determine if your going to keep the tractor for a long time? That being said I would buy a Woods or Land Pride, they are built like tanks and will last you the life of the tractor.

The King Kutter will be fine for your tractor. It's light, but if you need more weight you can throw on a couple of buckets of cement or something as added ballast.

dirtbikejunkie, well, you have two threads going on this subject.

Your BX manual states (on page 4) you should limit your Box Blade to a maximum of 375lbs so you have to determine whether you are approaching your recommended maximum and whether you are comfortable with that.

Have you examined the 42" version for thickness and quality? Yes, the XB version of the 48" is absolutely going to be lighter steel, but that is intentional to make the overall weight lower for easier operation on BX sized tractors.

The 48" "pro" model with the thicker steel is a higher quality unit, no doubt. When you research the Woods, Land Pride, or other makers, you might also want to pay close attention to the weight.

BX guys on this forum use implements right and left, if appears, that exceed the recommendations found in the operator's manual and seem to take some level of pride in that. Rakes much longer and heavier than recommended, back blades, tillers, and such as well.

Each to his own. I personally, and this is just me, have tried most of the over-sized, greater than recommended implements that my neighbor with his 26 hp, B series tractor has at my disposal, and I do not necessarily care for that over loaded feeling. But that's just me. YMMV

I have the 48" XB Box Blade from TSC. It is a good match for the BX tractors and has worked well with my BX24.

yes, I would go for that one as i stated above, but that EXACT box goes for $599 here.

we don't have TSC stores in washington state. Del's and similar stores sell the TSC brand stuff, but at a much higher price.

Northern Tool has the Howse. $330 plus shipping $100 bring it to $430.

I do not know a blessed thing about the Howse, as far as quality goes.

I picked up a united box blade, 4', from a local dealer that had it as a leftover and took $390 cash for it. Paint faded and small spots of rust, but it's a $500+ blade anywhere else.

Built a heck of a lot heavier than the KK's I've seen at TSC

too bad your not closer i would sell you mine waste of money without the adjustments on it too darn hard to get it right but thats my two cents...

I have had a Box Blade by United for over 7 years now. I used this on my BX22 and now my B2920. I was and am 100% satisfied.

Take a look at the pictures under this link - the area where you would pin the 3 pt is one of the best I have seen - for the money this is a very very stought design. I cant beleive there is much better.
