We just got back from a fantastic trip to Poland to visit our former exchange student. Poland is a beautiful country with very nice people. Well, except for the one guy who yelled at me for taking a picture of his hot dog stand cause he thought I was a competitor.

Anyway, I snapped a couple of pictures to share.

The Ursus tractors were all over the place.

Not sure what the big articulated mower is, but I like it.

Why don't they sell the cute little articulated Husqvarnas over here???

Nice pictures.

And from my store of useless information: Ursus was a fictional figure in Quo Vadis. He was a german slave, bodyguard of Ligia. His most famous stunt was to kill a Wisent in Nero's Circus with his bare hands. I always believed, that's where the tractor name came from since Henryk Sienkiewicz was Polish.

I am sure you always wanted to know this :D:D

Anyone out there killing wisents with their bare hands has my respect. I would only do that with high-power wisent bullets. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a brain full of useless information.

The tractors look very simple and stout. Wiki says they were built from a Zetor based design.

Interesting, I didn't know that. You know, Zetor is a Czech tractor brand - and it is actually related to the CZ line of guns:D

Reminds me of an old, pre-gorbi joke:

TASS reports:

Five Chinese helicopters attacked peacefully plowing russian tractor near the border. The tractor retaliated with cannon fire, destroyed four helicopters and flew back to the base.:)

They do! Or is it, They DID? I've had one for 7 years; runs like a new one. Cut 1 acre w/40 trees twice/week. Great driving/riding machine. 4" turning circle.

I saw one just like mine on Craigslist the other day for $400. Guess I should've bought it just for a spare?

Here's a current picture of my old worn out machine:

Must be pretty decent. My dad has a CZ side-by-side 20 ga for pheasants and loves it. I don't own any, but have heard the CZ stuff is very high quality.

I think they made motocross bikes a few decades ago too.

Must be "did". They don't show on the North America flavor of Husqvarna's web site; only Europe. Seems like a great design to me. You get almost the maneuverability of a ZTR without the sidehill problems. Plus great visibility.

Is yours 4wd or 2wd?

Isn't Jawa big too? Flat Track racing is popular in some area's here. About 45 minutes from my house, is Fast Fridays Speedway

That is some amazing racing to watch!

Seems Penta was big years ago. Then Jawa, CZ.

Well absolutely, my first motorcycle was CZ, afaik they were and are big in oval racing.

Is that tractor going down the highway? I like the look of that antonio carraro mower.

Good Afternoon Wombat,
Great pics thanks !

Im thinking that in that first that fenders are mandatory on the roadways ! Good thing the Ursus operator decided not to spray what was in that tank in front of that upscale boutique ! ;)

Good Afternoon Prokop,
Im thinking that anyone who could kill a wisen with his bare hands has my attention also ! :)

Yup. That tractor is driving down the freeway right into the center of the capital, Warsaw. That was kind of nutty.

It wasn't quite that bad. The Ursus is just pulling a water tank to water the plants and trees in the old city center. Here are some more city irrigators, plus an obligitory Unimog mulag shot.

Jawa had some problems surviving the communism fall, but Flat Track Jawa is a spin off and seems to be doing well.
