Agreed...sounds like a scam...too good to be true. I have seen quite a few of them on Craigslist.

Highly likely this ad is a scam. A close friend of mine just spent two weeks going through the process of "purchasing" a tractor just like this with similar attachments from a "lady" who just lost her husband. Every link and website he checked appeared to be legitimate. Long story short, he's out $8400.

If it seems "too good to be true" it generally is a scam. There seems to always be some sort of sob story that goes along with the low price. If you see obvious scams in the classifieds here on TBN, post an alert in the "News/Feedback" forum and they will get removed.

Obviously he did not check here -
Clues -
"Lady lost her SO"
"Will ship"
"NO you can't see it. it's packed for shipping"

I too bought a tractor (and trailer, BB and FEL) off Craigslist and am out $11.5K
AND PROUD OF IT
But I did the handshake and test drive first.

Somebody needs to write a book on how to give your money to scammers. Make it a mandatory third grade reader nationwide.

See Sally run

This is a scam. I checked into this when it was listed for $8400 with a backhoe and lots of other implements. I emailed the seller who said it was at the ebay shipping center in San Jose, Ca. It wasn't even listed on ebay. I asked for the address to go see it and they were not able to provide it. They said ebay would contact me to arrange the purchase details. In this sort of scam, someone pretends to be a company rep. and will ask for some fees up front for shipping. If it were authentic, that would have been a **** of a deal. The person had the same story about her husband. THIS IS A REAL SCAM, BE CAREFUL.

If in Question , Type in the exact wording of the heading of the ad in the google search it Will Bring up any & all places They posted , the Bogus ads & Usually the REAL ad the owner posted they stole the ad from.

The scammers ussually favor tractors , skidsteers & highend luxury cars & trucks . Also Most times but not always they will have an odd prices as well , like $4768 or $8444 . This is What I,ve found out anyway.

The Only legit ones I,ve seen where they are priced cheap , are They are asking like 5 Grand but Then want You to take over their payments  . Bob

They are not always easy to spot. I have been using ebay for years, can't tell you what I have spent on there. I bought a benz for 60K a few years ago on there. That was scarey! 3 months ago I bought a van for my wife on there from a legit dealer in Texas. They had over 400 feedbacks all positive. I sent the check down and they cashed it. I started feeling bad about it after 3 days and called. No answer. This went on a week. I finally got the owner. She said they were in detailing it and it would ship the next day. She was going to call with the driver. I started calling the next day and didn't get a hold of them for over a week.

To make a long story short, they decided with me and 6 others that they could make more money if they just listed bogus vehicles. They thought noone would come after them. They underestimated me and didn't believe me when I said the FBI was going to knock on their door in 3 days.

They had a legit business. I checked them out, even called the local police there and talked to an officer who knew them well and told me a lot about them.

Luckilly, I got paid back, they thought I would stop the FBI stuff I started. They are now totally out of business and in a heck of a lot of trouble.

You have to be very carefull. Its better to just go pick it up or buy local sometimes.

Sux that the world is coming to this.

The world hasn't come to this. People have come to this. They see the white lies pressed by wall street and enron and say "if them why not me". The shame of all is that our system lets people get "away" with those things. Like Bernie and the money. Why did he not get caught sooner ? He was buying others off. It's a shame that people are like this. But it's been going on for years. It's not new. They don't call it a Ponzi scheme for nothing. Mr Ponzi invented it how long ago ? 100, 200 years ? That's the real shame. That it continues and gets worse. And as there continues to be more people on the planet there will be more of it even. It's up to everyone to be "honest". Companies are made up of people. People keep it honest.
Too bad about Walker Cronkite. He was a "honest" respected news person. Who do we have now ?
We see these scammers on Craigslist regularly here. It's always the same great deal with a odd ball number. Always is that you can't see it or touch it. And you'll never get a serial number to verify ownership. And a Western Union money gram is involved. It's simple. Just flag them and continue on. Craigslist makes the people empowered to keep them honest. As for all the website scams it's pretty simple too. You can check a url for "ownership" on the registered domain name list. They even have phone number contacts. Find one and call it. See if it's real. Also, when doing searches on google you can see the scams. They usually end the URL in something out of the country like .uk or .jpn or anything other than .com (commercial).
