My son and I need to get firewood where a trailer can't go, so I am curious as to how much wood you can put in the bucket. A pallet on the front takes up too much room. Tight in the trees and steep. (I don't sidehill at all)

Here are some pics of my first successfull trip climbing out of the bottom where the creek is. Green Maple.

I built a bucket insert out of plywood and have two brackets inside the bucket into which I can insert 2x6's for "brush forks" or bucket extensions. In the end result I am not sure I get much more in it than you did:rolleyes:
I have a carryall for the back that I use much more than the bucket for tight spots -- but then I do not have the backhoe to take on and off:eek:
regards

Nice, and years down the road your son will cherish the picture.
Have to ask though, ever see a bungee strap let go or break?

Good point on the Bungee cord possibly snapping. Much worse than a rubber band and I have broken a few trying to shoot my brother and it does not feel good.

At the very least I need to make sure the kids stay away from a streched Bungee cord.

Thank you for the safety tip. You probably saved me a trip to the doctor on a future wood hauling trip.

Thankfully, no breaks on this load.

Thanks!

I need to move firewood from the woodshed into the house periodically.
The house is such that no matter what door is used, you have to go up at least 4 steps.
I built a plywood "laundry hamper". It's 2' x 4' and about 3' deep, on large non-marring swivel casters. It's sixed to fit my BX bucket, doorways, and the width of the deck steps.
Now, I take it out to the deck - I added a small "ramp" to the doorway to make getting it over the doorjamb easier.
Then, I strap the wood carrier to the BX bucket, lift ot off the deck, and drive off to the woodshed.
Then, I fill it with wood, and drive back to the deck.
I drop the wood carrier on the deck, unstrap it, and wheel it into the house, through the kitchen and right next to the stove.
This has saved handling individual logs several times.
The wood carrier has several "belt loops" around three sides. These hold a tie-down strap that has hooks on it. I hook it ove rthe lips on the bucket and tighten.

You might consider some kind of 3PT carrier too. As for securing with bungee cords, I'd more likely use chains...

Nice picture! Yeah i wonder if a rear 3pt setup would work better. I will have to move a 10'X20' tent full of wood and 3 8'X3' stacks to another area and wondering the fastest way to do it.

I have a "snow-bucket" extension that bolts into my FEL bucket for the winter that gets used for transporting wood from the shed to the front porch. Three loads equal one face cord. For volume moving from the bush however I have a 4x4x2ft basket that goes on the 3pth, then I fill the regular FEL bucket as well....
My trails are rougher than yours (a lot), plus I need to see past my bucket...

Thank you guys for your replies.

I think I could really use the idea of the "hamper". This way I can load it once and set it on my raised porch until it is emptied during the burn season.

For moving a large amount of wood, I really like using my 5x10 trailer. I can move a cord at a time. Hooking and unhooking is easy since the hitch is in the front where you have really good steering ability for the trailer.

All great ideas - Thanks!

I would love to see some pictures of this idea. I'm in the same boat as everyone else in needing to move wood from the pile to the front porch. Currently I load up the bucket and 3pt carry all with wood and stack it on the porch. If I had a way to only stack it once that would be great.
