I have a 2007 Cub 6284 with loader. 70 hrs.

Long story short - it worked - friend used it - now it doesn't.

Starts fine. No forward, reverse, lift on bucket or rear 3pt, no tilit on bucket, no pto.

Checked fluid level - fine. Fluid is not discolored, does not smell burnt.

Ordered new hydro filters (both of them).

I bought it used with 50hrs - don't know if the filetrs/fluid was changed at 25hrs. So I figured I would start there.

It has worked fine for me for the last 20hrs - little noisy (squeel while running)
It has always klunked pretty good when I shut it off - and I have found a sheered bolt underneath it - could not locate where it came from.

Thanks for any ideas.

I found a sheared bolt the week before I left -

Looked to be about a 3/16" x less than 2" - with strange washers on each end.

There was some black paint on the washers - looks like they got sprayed when the frame was. judging from the daimeter I figure they were more likely body related, but I could be wrong.

I will go and take a look.

Thanks

I know noting about these tractors, but it sounds like something is broke in the driveline. Basically, the engine isn't turning you hydro pump. I would start it up and see if the drive shaft is turning. If it is, I would check the coupler on the pump end. If it isn't turning, check the coupler at the engine.

You're right in starting with the filters. If your buddy donked the filter under the tractor, it would affect all hydraulic operation. Sounds like he crushed it flat, not allowing any fluid to pass. Hopefully thats it.....good luck and keep us informed.

So upon inspection last night - I discovered that I had sheared all three bolts on the trnsmission side of the main drive shaft coupling.

The coupling is made up of 2 three eared jokes that bolt through a set of round plates - seperated by a metal washer used as a spacer.

When I looked up the drive shaft in the parts manual - it is different and does not list a part number for the bolts or the spacers. I only can find one of the broken bolts. Anybody know a better place to look?

Has anyone heard of this happening? Is something faulty or out of line?

Thanks.

Is something faulty or out of line?

Got any pix of the failed parts, Rob?

At only 70 hr, there COULD have been improper assembly or a weak
part in that area. Was your "friend" using the PTO, a rotary cutter, and
engaging at high RPM? That kind of shock could have been the last
straw for a compromised engine-driveline connection.

Where is the hyd implement pump on that machine? All CUTs I have
owned put it on the side of the engine, driven off gears connect to the
crank.

I will get some pictures this evening.

My friend was not - or shouldn't have used the PTO and I had nothing connected to the tractor.

He was using the FEL to load composted horse manure into the bed of his truck... So shouldn't have been anything hard there.

I was able to find one of the bolts - with washers and spacer. Haven't seen the other 2.

Thanks for your help.

If the driveshaft doesn't look the same as the parts illustration about the only thing you can do is take the driveshaft out and take it to a dealer to identify. You mentioned that is was squeeling before it broke so you may want to see how hard it is to turn the input shaft on the transmission. Someone said in another post that you should be able to turn it by hand easy.

:confused:Ok - I have some pictures of the failed connection on the drive shaft.

Now how do I add them?

Any thoughts?
