Gotta post my two cents...have a 96 chevy z71, a 2003 ford expedition, and an 08 gmc sierra z71 crew cab 4x4. compared to the gmc my wifes expedition is junk...heck compared to my chevrolet my wifes expedition is junk. personally, there's no way i'll ever buy another ford again. i agree, a man has to have a truck

Too bad due to the economic crisis, ford and GM both shelved their 1/2 ton diesel plans for an unknown amount of time. :(

I am in no way knocking GM, my old z-71 was a beautiful truck, SWB stepside, two tone, chrome everywhere, I even racked up 252,000 miles on her before I sold her. But, practically everything was new a couple times over. Replaced- Engine, trans, rearend, frontend rebuilt, and all sorts of other things. Practically rebuilt the truck. Maybe your Expediton was a lemon, it happens. I had an accord that I bought for driving to the rig and back, and it was the biggest pile I ever owned. Motor blew up, and trans was slipping. Some are better than others.

It can happen with any brand, and it'll certainly affect what you buy in the future. We buy the brand we want more because of emotion than logic. I quite likely got the worst lemon Ford ever produced in 1966, got rid of it after 2 years and 24k miles and you just about couldn't have given me a Ford for the next 25 years, even though I liked the Ford police sedans. But now I've been driving Fords again since late 1991, and have been quite happy with them.

Geeze, I wish I could get away that easy. My '89 F-150 rusted through the fenders, frame and fuel tank with 110,000 on it by 2005. 17 years is a long time, but crap, the thing was garage kept and never used for plowing or salting.

Still as good as when I got it new. Just turned over to 39000 miles.:)

That's not my low milage pick up.
My low milage truck is a mint 1992 toyota long bed with only 28000 miles on the clock.
Here is the winner though A 1950 Chevy 2 door sport coupe. 39000 miles.

I finally picked up my new truck yesterday. It is a 2009 Ford F150 SuperCrew with the 6.5' bed, FX4 luxury package. Not quite just a work truck but boy its going to be nice to have a truck around!

This thing drives like a Cadillac!

Nice P/U!! I was a sworn chevy guy for a lot of years. Had a '92 k2500 that had 340,000 miles on the clock when i gave up. She was about to go through her second tranny. The motor got swapped at 170,000 ish miles to a 502 cu.in. One heck of a motor. Anyway, started to really do some hauling, and wanted a diesel, and the only used one i could find within an hour and a half drive was a '00 ford f-350. Love the 6 speed manual though. The new truck has every bit of power the old chev did, but triple the fuel mileage, literally 7 mpg to 21 mpg. (Intake, exhaust, and chip help that alot, up from 16).

Ooh, aaah. Nothing as sweet looking as a new truck (or tractor of course).

Good looking place in the background too. I'll keep an eye out for you on the road!

I just did the exact same thing. Tried the Chevy-Gmc crew, there weren't any Ford ones around to try other than black. My last four trucks were black, Hard to keep clean and time for a change,,, Last week I got rid of an 07 one ton diesel, and also my Kubota L48 TLB and trailer,, This is the first gasoline powered vehicle since my 89 dakota.. Replcaed the kubota with a much smaller, lighter basic case tractor... The wife went and picked up the truck while I got the tractor,... Dodge, crew, hemi, Case, 45 hp with hydro trans,

The Ford 150's are very nice trucks. I looked at them very closely before going with my 2500 GMC Duramax. I think the 150 is head and shoulders above any of the other half ton options with regard to features and construction. The only issue I have is Ford: please put an engine in the truck!!!! When Ford upgrades the powerplants in these trucks they will truly have a strong offering in the market, as these trucks are very nice. I will say after driving my diesel, and being used to diesels, I could not bring myself to go gas, even though I could have probably done with a gas engined truck fine. I could not be happier with my GMC, but if I were going 1/2 ton, I would have gone 2009 150 given the really nice redesign and solid construction. Enjoy your new truck!! I have a 2001 150 I "borrowed" from my dad which has over 200K miles on it and literally runs as well now as when new.

That is why we love our GMC so much, the 5.3L RULES!! If I could swing a DMAX, I would have one in a second.

Thanks a lot guys. LarryRB - nice looking Hemi and tractor! I'm with you on the black. I have a black Honda Accord and while black looks sharp when clean, it does not stay clean for long!

Around here prices of diesel these days is 10 to 15 cents a liter cheaper than gasoline! That is about 50 cents a gallon less. Wish they had a decent diesel in a 1/2 ton! I just found that the 3/4 tons felt a lot bigger to me. Maybe it was the turning radius. They also rode less comfortably unloaded. I figured even if Ford puts out a diesel in the F150 next year, I'm not going to sign up to buy the first couple of year models.

To be perfectly honest, my perspective was that I did not notice a difference at all in the 5.4L on the GMC Sierra vs. the Ford. Perhaps it is just my driving style. I found the truck to have more than ample power on the 5.3L. I'm told that the Hemi really has a lot of oomph. I've not been impressed by some of the Dodge dealers around here so I did not even try.

I've gotten the truck dirty taking it to a dog trial today with quite a bit of driving. It REALLY REALLY rides nicely. The fit and finish is impressive. Way better than my 2005 Honda Oddysey. My 99 Honda Accord fit and finish was excellent also. I really do think that Ford has stepped up on fit and finish and the imports - the ones I have tried recently - have all lost a bit there - compared to what they used to make.

My only regret is that I did not order the factory navigation system on the truck. The Ford SYNC system is just amazing! Unfortuately it makes getting aftermarket stuff in there painful. I was shocked at how small the monitor in my rear view mirror was for the rear view camera - about 2.4" square! I'm used to a full 7 inches in the nav system LCD on my van. I think that I will just have an audio installer mount up a Garmin portable system with a neatly wired power cable behind the dash or panels. I found one (only one!) that actually comes with a video input so I could get them to divert the camera output there as wel. I think that will make a nice mount for a GPS system - just around where the visor is.

I had been thinking and working on sizing down for quite sometime and was out looking for both a replacement truck and tractor. I had my mind originally set to try a duramax.. THere are none available around me, I also was set to get a Kubota grand L 5740. Even though outside dimensions are the same as the 48, to me this was sizing down... Half the weight, one pump instead of 3, no back hoe, etc etc.. WHen I couldn't find a duramax both GMC or Chevy, I looked at a 6.4 Ford. Just didn't like the truck at all,.. In looking at this the Ford dealer was right down the street from a New Holland dealer and naturally I stopped in.. First time ever I was in a cabbed NH at 45 hp. Small tractor and just the right size for me and my property... Cut a great deal with the salesman only to have the dealership owner call later last Saturday to say he couldn't do it... I went and looked at some Chevy 1/2 tons, but they were extended cabs and I want a full crew cab. Didn't like the door to door closing. Dodge had this system when they first came out with extended cabs and quit using it the following year. The doors would start rattling, loosening up and were plain noisy. So, went back to the dodge dealer, most of whom the employees worked for my father in law when he was a dealer, and this crew cab 1/2 ton was being placed in the show room. Now I understand most everyone is scared to buy a Chrysler product or perhaps GM. I am not. Seeing the color, then sitting in the rear seat, front seat, doing s slow walk around, I said I'll take it. That afternoon on a whim, I call Woodbury tractor who is a Case dealer, and about 80 miles from me., By pure luck, he has the exact copy of the NH2320 only in Case red,, I like the red better than blue, means it will run better :) With him adding an electric third valve, and cutting edge, he was less than one hundred dollars over the NH, and I've had several dealings with Woodbury anyway, and all were superb, excellent dealings, and here you have it, how to size down within 6 days the quick, easy, do it Larry's style of operation.

Nice truck. I am sure you will love it. I have owned a 1/2 dozen F-150's and they were all better than the one previous. Never had a single problem out of any of them which all were worked fairly hard except the F-150 Lightning. It was fun to run with cameros and mustangs but was traded after I realized it was absolutely the worst vehicle I had ever driven once there was 2" of snow.
