My 4320 (450 hours) recently started having trouble with the tachometer. Occasionally it will bounce all over the place; sometimes it will stay pinned on 0. Tractor runs fine. Err 4 shows up too.

I heard from someone that this is likely a speed sensor???

Any ideas?

If the tach is bouncing around I'd say its not the speed sensor, but the Engine RPM sensor...if it makes you feel any better, I BELIEVE the sensor is the same part...

I had my gauge cluster replaced under warranty. The tach did strange things such as bouncing, hanging up, etc. There was a service bulletin for it on my 3320 maybe for your series as well?

Did your warranty on the guage cluster come from fogging as this happened on the 4210 models. Had mine changed still fogs Just curious.

Cluster was changed on my 3320 at approx. six months due to erratic tach behavior. After couple of hours use heat from motor etc was just enough that the red center on the tach needle expanded and rubbed on the inside of the plastic face of the cluster. Never experienced any problem with fogging.

Big Jon,

No, mine didn't fog. It was because the tach was erratic and finally quit working altogether. The cluster is one unit. They came out to my house with their repair truck and changed it. Looked like a PIA since they had to pull the steering wheel, etc. Then they had to reprogram the hobbs hours and other info into the new cluster.

Big Jon,

Then they had to reprogram the hobbs hours and other info into the new cluster.

Tell me more about this reprogramming. When they replaced my cluster the tech said he needed Internet access, not available at my site, and they took the 3320 back to the dealership. Told me they could not reprogram the hours on the meter. Was only 70 at the time so not a really big deal, but would have preferred to have it done right.

Not sure how it was programmed. After plenty of 'bsing' with the guy picking his brain about the tractor I left the shop and let him work. Figured it would never get done if I looked over his shoulder the whole time :D
