It looks like he is having a seizure to me.

I would be worried about that dog.

I saw this thread yesterday but did not have a chance to read it. This morning the radio show mentioned the video so I watched.

That dog was having a heck of a good dream!

My dogs have had some good dreams but never like that one. Thankfully. I don't want them jumping up and into the wall.

No, odds are it was just a dream. I've had dogs that dreamt quite vividly and forcefully, although none quite as dramatic as that in the video. And all of us have had dreams of our own. I certainly have been told by my wife at times of a dream I had late at night, where I was talking or moving around in my sleep. And have you never heard of people who walk in their sleep?

I've also had a dog that did have seizures - they were nothing like the one in the video. Next, it was quite obvious that the dog had full use of his muscles after he was so rudely awoken by the wall. A dog having a seizure would probably not have had that capability. For example, when our dog would have a seizure, he would also lose any bladder control where he was sleeping or laying, cry out uncontrollably, and have no use of his muscles for at least a few seconds after the seizure was over.

Have no fear, this was just a dream.

I'm still laughing about it, especialy when he turns around to snap at whatever is chasing him LOL

That dream has to be up there with the Wizard Of Oz on the vivid scale

There is another where he's barking and stands up still sleeping, when he awakes his owner is talking to him and you can tell he's not in any physical distress. There may be a little PTSD going on, but I think it's just an active imagination, guess he could hurt himself if he went off a flight of stairs in his sleep.

This dog was not having a dream. He is having a seizure. My fiancee' is a vet tech for a very busy animal emergency hospital. This video alarmed her. The dog needs a neurological visit. Considering she has been in the vet field for 9 years I would have to say she would be able to tell. I have owned dogs all my life and have had dogs dream. We had a Labrador that was abused and had very bad dreams. Nothing like what that dog was happening. There are certain signs that will let you know when he is postictal. He actually shows them very well. When postictal he was not alert, hunched over and not responding to voice of owner. When you seen him barking he was barking at nothing. I have also seen people in this state. (not barking of course LOL) If you watch him run it is not a steady run. He goes from a paddle to stopped to flailing. Trust me what you are seeing is a seizure. Also, all animals present slightly differently when having a seizure.

I used to have a Red Bone hound that would dream. We had a him a dog pillow and would let him in when it was cold for a few hours. He would run like that but never got up. He also had bad gas. My wife always blamed me but it was him. I once dreamed I was calling my dog. My wife woke me up and asked why I was wistling. JC
